1 1/4" x 4" ceiling joists ok to walk on?

Just bought a house - 1900 victorian mid terrace - and just had my first look in the loft to find it is covered in wool (which I think is OK), there is some damage to the felt (but the tiles look alright) but the thing I am worried about is that most of the joists are 1 1/4" x 4" - is this too...

    Flourescent shaving light premanently warm

My house has a radial circuit that is used for all plug sockets upstairs and also in an additional loft conversion (5 double sockets in total). Problem is it trips sometimes when we try and use several things at once e.g. TV, Radio, Alarm clocks, a lamp or two plus a couple of fan heaters. It is...

    Lights Flickering

Several of the lights  in my house occasionally (three or four times in 6 months)flicker and then cut out entirely, after leaving them for a couple of hours they try and switch themselves back on, flicker and then go out again. If all lights are switched off and left for an hour or so...

Bathroom fan, main light and mirror light.

Hi I am replacing my bathroom ceiling so am taking the oppotunity to add a light to a wall, just over a mirror, that I want to become active when the light and fan cord is pulled. The mirror light will also have a pull cord of it's own. I presently have: A main light A fan (not a...
