    Thanks for the replies. The switch's are plastic back box's are metal. The tails will be cut shorter because it will be closer to the main fuse. I literally want to move it 4 inch's

    I had the tester calibrated at a different place last year and they told me i needed new leads which are now the faulty ones. So they must have tested my leads then

    There isnt a fuse. I did suspect these leads were faulty a few weeks back i had a few dodgy readings on an insulation test but when it came back from the calibration with everything ok I obviously thought they were ok.

    I believe i may have found the issue. I changed my test leads for another pair and it wasnt working just i got the 1999ms reading yet 2 minutes ago with the different leads it tripped fine.

    Yea sorry it just read 1999 which i just presume to be ohms because thats the reading i get when i do my insulation resistance tests. I had a faulty rcd before that didnt trip and it came up with an error exceeding 500ms maximum limit. so thats why i wasnt sure with this error
