Just spotted this, it was working fine yesteday, and now the display just shows EI6 (or E16 or EL6). Nothing else. Does anyone know what that fault code means? I can't see it anywhere on the net.
Changed the batteries, and the same thing displays.
The Boiler (a greenstar) shows a clashing...
Hi,
Looking at using Brazilian black slate floor tiles laid over paving stones to make a hearth for the fireplace, but the edges have saw marks.
Can the edges of slate tiles be filed or polished to remove the saw marks?
Cheers
Liam
Why was it woodchipped? The same reason they panelled over the lovely doors and ripped the picture rails and stair spindles out - 1970's "modernisation"
The dark lines are in the same places in each of the rooms - where the ceiling slopes and there's probably little room for...
Thanks John - I'm pretty sure the insulation is thinner than that, and in places it's just placed over old heating pipes that are up there. The heating is being changed at the moment, so I'll strip the pipes out and get the insulation topped up. The roof isn't felted, so cleaning it up is...
Ah - so it could be dust from inside the room sticking to the ceiling from that side rather than penetrating?
Yes, it's insulated, but it's very old and dirty (the roof is clay tiles and the mortar has dropped out). And probably not that thick.
So do we need to replace the insulation, or...
Hi All,
My new house has lath and plaster ceilings in the bedrooms with emulsioned woodchip over the top.
There are dirty lines on the ceiling where all the muck & dust in the attic has seeped through the plaster.
I'm going to strip & paint the ceilings, but do I need to reskim to stop...
Just bought a 1930's largish 4 bed detached house. The roof is red clay tile, and it is leaking on 2 of the 4 lead valleys. The tiles are mostly good and the battens aren't rotten.
However, it's a pre-felting roof and most of the cement on the backs of the tiles has fallen out so there's a...
In the process of buying a 1930's house, and just noticed that the course of bricks on top of the DPC have slipped outwards by about 5mm on one wall.
This wasn't spotted in the survey (or if it was it wasn't mentioned) and there are no other signs of cracking or movement.
Should I be...
Thanks everyone.
I suspect it is a rewire with DIY "enhancements" - like the 6mm T&E nailed to the fence going to the garage and "protected" with plastic cover that you use under plaster!
Hi all,
I'm thinking of buying a house, and the HIP says it was completely rewired in 1986, but some of the wiring looks like bad DIY and I've got my doubts about when it was done.
The consumer unit is cartridge/spade type rather than having circuit breakers - does that sound like 1986...
Can I have the user manual please?
Can anyone else provide an install manual, otherwise I'll just have to go and buy another control panel, which is a bit of a waste....
