Hi

I will be installing forticrete Gemini tiles to my extension. The tile is 15mm thick and battens will be 25mm thick. In the instructions for the tiles it says to use 45mm nails, but this means the point of the nail would protrude 5mm under the batten potentially piercing the membrane. Is this correct or should i go with shorter nails, maybe 35mm?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Adam

Use 40 mm clouts. No tiles will be sitting tight to the batten so ignore your measurements. Rather, you will end up with 5mm or more spare.

Annoyingly i broke a tile walking across the roof - see photo. As the tiles are nailed i can't seem to remove the old tile to slide in a replacement. I don't want to force anything in case i break anyhting else. Are there any tips for repalcing nailed tiles? Do i need to somehow replace the nail once get the new tile is in?

Any help much appreciated

thanks

Adam

We have always once nailed every (interlocking) tile, meaning that a broken fella can be twisted and wrestled out.

NHBC are now asking for every tile to be TWICE nailed, even for plains. Roofing has become a nightmare overnight.
