Seams to be a bug with this forum when using Win XP and Chrome.

If I let the full page load I get the blue screen of death. (with some sort of PAGE error message)

Does this with two computers .

Yeah I know I need to upgrade......

I also have a problem on one lap top. But its running Windows 10 !

Posted about it a couple of threads below but no replies or explanations yet.

Windows XP may be a little old but its stable and easy to navigate around and to do maintenance tasks!

Several experts have told me that I am not alone in my assessment of recent Windows!

Are you using the latest version of Chrome? Does this happen on all forum pages, or just e.g. the index or a sub forum index, or a thread?

I have tried to repeat issue and my version of XP (SP3) combined with Chrome (46.0.2490.80 m) works fine.

A blue screen of death is more indicative of a deeper software issue than at the website level.

Have you tried another browser? does that have a similar result?

Win XP SP3
Chrome Version 46.0.2490.80 m

Not got another decent browser.

Happens in the electrical forum as that is where I hang out.

Only happens after a while, so I press the X to stop any more of the page loading.

Yes I was surprised to find a webpage could cause a blue screen too !

My problem occurs only on DIYnot, just on one laptop.

Other forums are fine though.

I thought this has gone away. It could of course be a bad advert.

Just had another blue screen as soon as I selected the forum favourite link

BAD_POOL_CALLER

COULD be a coincidence

A 'bad_pool_caller' error is when a thread in your processor has made a bad pool request. This means that it’s asking to use resources that are unavailable, nonexistent, or in use by another thread. It could also mean that the pool header is corrupted.

Most 'blue screen of death' errors are caused by driver issues.

Serves you right. :D

It also no longer gets any security patches.

If your hardware can cope with it you might be better off running it in a virtual machine.

7 is OK.

Chrome Crashing should not cause a stop error, if browsing to this site on XP causes your PC to Blue screen (more correctly known as a stop error), then you have a rather big problem!

Try running chrome in Incognito mode as see if the problem still exists. (press: Ctrl +Shift +N) Also I agree with others that the problem is likely outside of diynot.com

I would recommended taking a look at the link below and keeping a track of all the stop errors you are getting Andy. Pay particular attention to the "Caused By Driver" column in BlueScreenView

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

Also if you upload your .dmp files, I will take a look at them if you wish. You can find where they are stored by right clicking a dump file in BlueScrenView and selecting "Properties", the location of the dump file (.dmp) will be listed under "Full Path:".http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

Get rid of that rubbish that is Chrome. :)

Best browser IMO...(y)

Serves you right. :D

Even still, for common applications such as Chrome, Win 10 should be stable...Or at least you would expect it to be.

It also no longer gets any security patches.

Quite right BAS, properly best upgrading to Windows 7 or 8.1 and then to Windows 10 in a year or two's time once Windows 10 has settled down.
