I'm only posting here on advice related topics.

So here goes.

Had a delivery due today and DPD courier arrived at the door.

I signed for a small package, but was then told 'sorry it was for next door'.

Didn't think anything was wrong as I was expecting a bigger package.

However 'next door' never took delivery, and DPD will now not return any calls.

It appears the delivery intended for me was in two packages and the courier only brought the smaller one to the door for a signature.

I feel like a real f ucking mug, but thought I'd share this in order to alert others in case this is more than an isolated scam.

Who was the supplier of the packages? I would take the issue up with them. And I always look on the packaging for name and addresses, prior to taking or signing for anything!

If I'd signed for it, I'd have kept hold of it and told the guy I would deliver the goods to the neighbour.

But DPD should investigate. If they are not interested, start a campaign on Facebook to highlight the issue, they won't like that.

Basically, the OP ordered something off the internet which was 'delivered' by the courier DPD.

Once the OP had signed for a small package the courier apologised and said the package was meant for the house next door. However, the OP must have spoken to his neighbour about the mix up but the neighbour didn't get the package. i.e. The courier kept it.

The OP was actually expecting his purchase to consist of two packages, 1 small one and 1 larger one. Therefore he thinks the courier has got a signature on the small package and now has both packages in his possession with a signature stating the whole purchase has been signed for by the original purchaser.

Well if it's signed for he technically wasn't in receipt. Like I said, No comebacks.

At least someone gets the situation!

I have a feeling I have no comeback, as on ringing DPD I just get an automated 'we had a package number for your telephone number that was signed for etc etc'.

No further communication has been possible.

Like I said, I feel like a real f ucking mug and am just passing on the experience to others.

It was 'only' approximately £90 but sadly I shall be interrogating every minute detail on every order from now on!

I agree. When I have had problems with couriers (not often, thankfully), I have always contacted the seller in the first instance. If they find that several people are making similar reports they will, hopefully, use a different courier in the future. After all, they don't want unhappy customers.

DPD have always been (probably) the best delivery service for stuff I've ordered off the internet. Always get at least 3 text messages updating me on when the item is going to be delivered. Last one was "The driver will be with you within the next ten minutes" Pleasant driver (always been the same one who must have regular deliveries in our area) . Thank god I don't have stuff delivered by Parcelfarce (if I can avoid them)

What phone number/s have you tried? You are more likely to get a (somewhat) human being on the 0121 number below than any 0844 number.

These are the two numbers for DPD that I have stored in my mobile:

08445 560 560 or 0121 275 0500

Head office is 0843 507 6410

Or you can email them, and you at least have some evidence of correspondence

But I would be approaching the supplier, I have had delivery problems in the past and it is rarely resolved by the delivery service/provider but it has been by the supplier!
Generally via the items being resent or refund if desired.

Friend called them and just refused to push any option buttons. Eventually it was transferred to someone who answered.
She is the most persistent person I have ever met, especially when she thinks someone is taking the pi$$ at her expense.

Hope you get it sorted with DPD. If they get complaints about this type of thing they should have, at the very least, a moral duty to investigate or it will put their business in a very bad light.
