ok so connection is now complete and cooker working. When i tried to connect wire to cooker outlet three screws were missing. Final trip to B & Q to buy 6ml grab screws (think thats what they're known as). six different members of staff told me they don't supply them or make them any more...

thanks Fred, off to b & q to get the sleeve no. assume it will fit with my 6 mm grey cable wires, but will take the packet jsut in case. Going to get a basic wire cutter too to trim the cable wire "properly". Found it hard to bend round the pins at the cooker outlet - guess i'm not that strong...

thought i'd have a go at connecting new cooker to existing cooker fuse box. As a female i'm fed up with being ripped off by rouge traders and someone said its as easy as wiring a plug. B & Q sold me the correct grey cable but found one wire earth was unsheathed - didn't know you had to sheath...
