are there any decent looking maintained fittings on the market for domestic properties ? sticking a big square bulkhead halfway down the stairs wouldnt look too good, but is there anything better available for use in the home ?

can someone please clear this up for me ? can you use 35w GU10 lamps with a conventional dimmer switch. ? and if so how many on each switch ? and what about led GU10 fittings, can these be dimmed or not ? or are 12v lamps and transformers the better way to use a dimmer ?
