    condensation in converted loft

I have been reading some previous posts on condensation in loft spaces but none of them cover my particular problem. The loft space has been converted,ie floor boarded out and ceiling and wall boarded and plastered. I have seen some insulation behind the plasterboard but not a lot,and there is...

    how to turn oak black

Result! vinegar finally worked. thanks to all posters. on a final note, with regard to the finish, out of the options listed by other posters, which would best give a satin sheen? I have tried a acrylic varnish but it did not work well, and i have no experience with waxes or shellac.

    how to turn oak black

Well the strong tea did not work, the cost of tannic acid is the same- is as stain so I might try some caustic soda as I have some. Failing that I'll just buy some stain.

    how to turn oak black

some years ago i was watching one of the many design programs on tv where they were building something out of oak. As a finish, they applied something to it which was not stain, but maybe some kind of acid(?),and it turned the oak purple/black, and it looked really good,(and cheap!) I fancy using...

If you can maybe see the attached image, it will give you an idea of what's happened. tung oil

hi I recently made a dining table out of recycled mahogany and oak,and was persuaded to finish the top with tung oil. I noticed it had easily gotten scratched,so decided to lightly sand out the marks and re-oil it. However, like the first time, once it had dried,it looked lovely in one...

hi looked at a house to buy the other day and noticed there was no gas meter, and subsequently no gas supply in the property. remove main fuses

i think i have used the wrong term. The main fuse ,as you all say is not to touch. However,as part of a preparation package, once the property is empty,we must drain down and switch everything off and remove the fuses,i presume from the consumer unit, not the main fuse.
