    Rusty Towel Radiators

My towel radiator (bathroom) is 5 years old and is now corroding around the valves... Would a chrome one be more robust or are they all prone due to their location? Thanks in advance...

    Potterton Suprima HE 50

thanks. I see the current PCB is right up against the bottom of the boiler (with burner right above it) so i did wonder. you would hope Potterton would have fixed it after all the media attention with the first ones, but i would never be surprised....

    Potterton Suprima HE 50

These new Suprimas (the condensing version) don't suffer from the same problem as before, do they, i.e. PCB failure etc...? thanks

    Condensing Boiler Flue

some websites say it is primarily to collect liquid from the second heat exchanger, so just wanted to make sure sorry for the novice questions....

    Condensing Boiler Flue

one more quick question: is the boiler designed so that condensate can potentially come back down the flue?

    Condensing Boiler Flue

thanks. Got a conventional boiler where water is doing that at the moment ... and causing it to go rusty on the heat exchanger & fan. Just want to make sure the condensing one is going to be ok with that ... but guess it is as it is made to do it! Will the inner flue be plastic generally?

    Condensing Boiler Flue

In a condensing boiler, how exactly does the water that comes back down the flue get drained away and not get into the boiler? I know there is some sort of pipe + it might be different for different boilers, but how does it get drained away?

    Storage Heaters

Could you put a plug on a storage heater and plug it into a normal mains outlet? I know this will be v.expensive & it wouldn't be timed to go on and off apart from manually. But from a safety point of view ... is it ok?

Boiler gases condensing in flue & dripping back down...

Thanks for the reply. I don't think this option is available on my boiler. I will ask the plumber. Just at a bit of a loss really as I know it shouldn't be doing it & it is damaging the boiler, but the cause of the problem is somewhat elusive.

Boiler gases condensing in flue & dripping back down...

Hello all, I am at my wits end with this problem and hope there is someone out there with knowledge can help. I moved into my brand new house 2 years ago. Shortly after, my boiler died. Upon inspection (boiler had been installed for 4 years at this point), the inside was totally rusty. It...

    Potterton Suprima 50L

One more thing: I have a grundfos pump: UPS 15-50 130? That'll make sense to someone. I have 7 radiators (6 on one floor + 1 downstairs in the hall) - I'm in a first floor house. I also have a white Myson power extra - looks like some sort of valve. The pump speed is set on 1 (was on 3...

    Potterton Suprima 50L

Well the house was built in 2004-5-ish but was the sales office, so the NHBC cover started in 2007 when the house was converted. The boiler died because of a flue restrictor being added on a long flue, hence the gases codensing and flooding the boiler. It died when it fell apart of rust...

    Potterton Suprima 50L

The boiler is under a year old and still under warranty. Don't know why it isn't an HE version? Should it be? My house had a boiler installed wrongly - it died and needed a replacement. The developer had to fit a new boiler because the house was within the first 2 years - so this was what I...

    Potterton Suprima 50L

Hello all, Issues with my Potterton Suprima 50L (under a year old). It has the new PCB in it - which is protected from the heat. It is still under warranty, but wondered whether any of you had an ideas. When the boiler has been off (all day) and it is turned on, it will not light first...

Myson Radiators - Bleeding + CH Pressure

Hello, One of the bleeding valves has sheared off one of my radiators. It is a Premier HE Panel Radiator (Double Panel 'Xtra). Not an issue until I need to drain the system, but does this mean a new radiator? Radiator is 4 years old. Also, my central heating system (sealed system) is...

Dull question: CH cycling or constant?

This doesn't surprise me. My house is 1 year old and the plumbing company who installed all of the plumbing (now out of business) really didn't do well with it. x 2 leaks in bathroom in 10 months - x 1 new carpet. Both due to fittings not adequate/faulty. x 1 new boiler (due to flue...

Dull question: CH cycling or constant?

Thanks for your reply DP. It is not so much that the boiler is reaching temperature early and that the room temperature is not satisfied. It will usually reach room temperature before the boiler will halt because it has reached water temperature. It is more of a case of: the boiler...

Dull question: CH cycling or constant?

If the room thermostat controls it, then it will be more likely to cycle, surely? Unless there is a thermostat that can increase the ranges between turning on/off the CH.
