Brakes coming on whilst driving! Help

I had this on my old Astra and it was a rear brake cylinder. Not quite sure why (if they go it's usually the seals leaking and failing to work), but it 'jammed' out and wouldn't return after I pressed the brakes. Easy fix though.

    damp on interior wall.

I read this thread with interest as being a 'punter' (rather than a builder/tradesman) with damp in his newly purchased 1930's home, I thought I could learn something. My last house was damp as anything. I took the (heavily embossed) wallpaper off the front room and all the plaster came with...

Cheers for the link Masona. Looks like I'm OK to just dig down, line with Visqueen and pour the concrete in. Thanks again, Mark

    Concrete base for a shed

Hi, I'm about to put up a (6x8 foot approx.) metal shed in my garden and want to lay a concrete base for it. The area where I plan to put it has soil there at the moment. Do I just need to dig down, put a wooden frame in and pour concrete in ? Should I put hardcore / sand in first ??? How...

    grouting query pls..

Gino - you have to make sure the gap between the tiles is fully filled with grout. If you skim over the gap then it looks OK, but as the grout dries it shrinks down and can crack / give an uneven surface. I've just used the same stuff (white container with red lid ?) on my bathroom with no...

    Baxi BackBoiler

Their website has (had) a thing where you can check if new fronts are available. I wanted a new fire for the Baxi back-boiler in my last place, but it was too old. They are available for some boilers though.....

    Combi boiler query

It was only fitted a couple of weeks back & I've only just noticed it (it's in the spare bedroom out of the way). I haven't mentioned it to the fitter - thought I'd get feedback here first, but sounds like it's OK (cheers CroydonCorgi !)

    Combi boiler query

Hi All, I've recently had a new combi boiler fitted (Worcester 24i Junior). All works fine - heating and hot water no problem. I have noticed that when there is a call for hot water (when I open the hot tap or when the heating is on), the boiler makes the quick 'click, click, click' sound...

Removing Old Bathroom Light with Heater Unit

I took similar out of my bathroom and it ran off the light circuit alone. The insulation round the wires had gone brittle where it entered the body of the light (I guess due to it getting so hot). I had to get rid of it as soon as I got the house. It absolutely stank when it was switched on...

    small wall size...

Big tiles work best in a small area I think. I've just done 2 walls of my tiny bathroom (150 x 160cm) with 25cm x 33cm tiles in brick formation, and am very happy with the result ! All the best, Mark

Flexable waterproof tile adhesive for plywood

Hi, You can buy Mermaid Showerwall. I think it's made by a company in Yorkshire (?). Basically a rigid panel for lining showers instead of tiles. Most of the designs available are marble effect, but they have some nice 'bubble' designs that are a bit more trendy (!) All the best, Mark
