    Dimplex Convector Heaters

Once again thanks for all your input and advice. I am now a little confused as to the best solution and could perhaps do with some help. Its a purpose built ground floor flat (no garden, no gas). One bath, 2 sinks, and no shower (but one is required). When we moved in there were 2 huge...

    Dimplex Convector Heaters

ColJack, Someone told me about the electric equivalent of a combi boiler (there is no gas supply to the flat), is this what you are mean by electric boiler. If so could you give me some idea as to what sort of thing I should be looking at. I assume I would then be able to use normal water...

    Dimplex Convector Heaters

I am looking at getting 5 of these heaters (2000w) installed in my flat. Reading through some previous threads it sounds as though each one of these heaters should be on their own 20a radial circuit (rather like my old economy 7 system) and I would assume this is what my electrician would do...

Wanting to charge for fitting main earth

Once again thanks for your replies. I think I understand what you are saying about bonding to the sheath but I am assuming by 'sheath' you mean the thick black thing that comes up out of the ground into the main fuse (sorry about the laymans terms) to which the main earth was attached to in...

Wanting to charge for fitting main earth

I don't really know what and if there is an earthing arrangement. It is a purpose built flat and all the main fuses are in a locked cupboard in the lobby. Coming into the flat is a red and black cable which go into the meter then an isolator then the fusebox. This photo shows the arrangement...

Following on from my last post regarding my meter cupboard : //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=184340 The electric company came and removed my economy 7 meter installed a new meter and installed an isolator. I asked him about the main earth and he was as puzzled as me. He told...

Making Sense Of My Meter Cupboard

Thanks for the input, it makes more sense now. The earths you can see on the left - 2 go into the fused switch (thats for a heated towel rail in the adjoining bathroom), one goes into the econ 7 fusebox. I still cannot see any sign of a main earth which is worrying. I have arranged for...

Making Sense Of My Meter Cupboard

Photos added. The battereries ran out before I could do the socket or switches. I couldn't see any conduit coming into any of the backboxes and there were no flying earths.

Making Sense Of My Meter Cupboard

Thanks Taylortwocities The numbers do indicate the sizes but they are probably not correct, I put them in to show the differences between them all (ie the 6mm may not be 6mm but its smaller than the 10 - which may not be 10 if you know what I mean). I will try and get some photos' posted...

Making Sense Of My Meter Cupboard

Hello everyone, whilst new as a contributor I do read this forum all the time and do understand the basics of electrics. I have just purchased a new ground floor flat which has storage heaters and (I assume) Economy 7. I want to get rid of these but thats another story. As a matter of interest...
