I have a new washing machine that is cold water only - the hot tap now has no hose and have closed it with a brass cap and washer - this is still dripping - tried putting some PTFE but did not stick very well - any suggestions please?

On the join of a pipe of mine it is getting a blue dust/powder building up, does anyone know the cause and how to stop it?
