It does have instructions, but either I don't understand them (most likely) or they are very poor. It has a diagram showing only 2 wires for the dimmer (I have 7) and there is no mention of colour. They are refered to as 1. Mains supply and 2. Transformer. I'll try what you suggested. Cheers
