Help filling in floor around new fireplace hearth

Hi all, We have just had an old open fireplace removed and a new wood burning stove fitted. The new hearth doesn't protrude as far into the room as the old fireplace did. I am left with a gap about 1ft x 4ft of exposed concrete floor. The existing floor seems to have about an inch thick...

Door bolt/latch for sliding bathroom door

Can anyone suggest a way of fitting a lock to a sliding bathroom door? I will be fitting the screwfix sliding door mechanism to a fairly basic wickes door. I was thinking of mounting a standard offset/cranked door bolt on the wall adjacent to the sliding door. This could work but I would...

    Door threshold and cavity wall.

Thanks for all the help! Could you point me in the right direction for a strip of insulation. Will wickes do it? Cavity is only 70mm across so how thick should the insulation be? Also is there any advantage in using a double layer of DPM as I bought loads of the stuff.

    Door threshold and cavity wall.

Yes - thanks - understood that about the trough. Have bought some DPM as well as some joining tape so will make a proper compartment for it. Could I end up with condensation on inside if the cavity wall is bridged or is it ok because it's under floor level? Sorry - all very new to me

    Door threshold and cavity wall.

Thanks - sorry about all the questions. Do i need to allow for contraction/expansion when i pour this small amount of concret? or do i just go to the same level of the floor in one go?

    Door threshold and cavity wall.

Thanks - don't think it was a window before (it's in the new part of the house) but maybe they read the drawing wrong when they did the extension and thought it was a window. Then made a bodge to fit the door. Is it quite normal to fill the cavity with concrete below a door? So I just line...

    Door threshold and cavity wall.

I am hoping someone can help. We are about to have oak flooring put down in a dining room which is part of a ground floor extension completed in 2002. (before we bought the house) There is a door threshold where the door meets the cavity wall. This has been a bit loose to stand on for the...

Help Please - Noisy Central heating

Hi Darren, 5 rads upstairs. 3 have TRVs. 5 rads downstairs. None have TRvs We don't have an automatic bypass valve fitted. Just a 3 port 2 position valve for HW or CH. This valve sometimes sticks in summer and all the rads get hot.

Help Please - Noisy Central heating

Thanks aLl and especially Darren. I am hoping I may have found the cause  We had a TRV fitted in the bathroom when they fitted a heated towel rail few years back. Has always been cranked up to max but I noticed today it was set on 3. Also, the only other radiator without a TRV...
