    Car test for older cars.

I think I will go with this paint brake pipes advice, every year I clean them, sand smooth any minor rust then coat the pipes with grease, always passed but always get an advice notice about the grease. On thing I regularly did on older cars was on the hand brake, with well worn components...

Spring and Autumn I give our 3 cars a go over so I have had the trackace gage out again, 2 cars out side setting spec but still inside checking spec, put them both back to setting spec anyway n one had the sterring wheel go off center over the winter, still notice the improvment just from the...

    DIY car Wheel alignment

First time I decided I needed to do my own tracking was because I went to a well know garage for a check, kid came to waiting area and told me my car needed adjustment, I wandered round to where i could see him working, he was using floor standing dunlops and the clown had one gauges resting on...

    DIY car Wheel alignment

I had another go with strings just before I got the Trackace, I prefered it because with sticks I had to go off the tyres on my Mondeo and sticks didn't stand a chance on my eldests lowered Corsa. I reckon I got strings well sussed and quite accurate but as you say it takes ages setting up again...

    DIY car Wheel alignment

I tried to make a Trackace last year, its harder than it looks if you want to go off the rims, made one that rested on tyres but was worried about the accuracy. Needed tracking for first time this year, MOT failure (ball joint), googled "trackace" and it's now available, looked on ebay and their...

    DIY car Wheel alignment

I hope I dont need it doing again in a hurry, but I suspect that the last time it was not done properly, The sterring wheel is a bit to one side and when I accelerate it feels a bit drifty, sort of changes direction a bit, but not what you would describe as pulling to one side , just drifty. I...

Thanks, Ive looked at these I just don't see how these can be accurate to a fraction of a degree as the settings in my manual show. theres usually an old fashoined way that works a treat but I can't find anything on the net other than tieing stings down the side of the car, does any body know...

Front wheel problem on Vauxhall Astra Club 2002

Sounds typical of a wheel bearing but after a couple of instances it would be playing up all the time at any speed I think. I would suspect a sticking brake piston or pad in the caliper if it's not the calipers themselves, in conjunction with a slight bent brake disk. I would clean out the brake...

:D Hello, i am new to the forum and this week discovered a trick that worked great for painting my stairway woodwork without removing the stair carpet.
