    Re Wiska product sample.

Indeed my sample arrived today as well, thanks BAS. They seem really well made boxes, I'm impressed!

    SDS drill extension?

I needed to pass a cable under a wide path (in several places) recently. I got an old meter long 16mm bit, cut in half and welded a meter long threaded rod in the middle. Frankendrill as it's affectionately know by several of my colleagues has since been through some rather thick sandstone...

    Outdoor socket

It depends on the size of the cable already in place really and if it's suitable for mains voltage at all (not extra low voltage cable that had a transformer in the garage for example). Ive done similar myself but the fuse in the plug needs to be the correct size to protect the cable in...

Wiring an alarm with Cat5 cable

Depending on how much space you have can you use a IDC connector like these things: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/2-way-jelly-crimp-connectors-100-pack-n72dv to connect to a cable you can strip? (you don't strip cables for IDC connectors). David.

Can you get a picture? I'm guessing it might be a virgin cable feed for upstairs...

    10mm pipe and 15mm TRV.

I was until you suggested it! I'll wrap a bit of tissue around it and check! Thanks!

    10mm pipe and 15mm TRV.

Pictures of the two sides are below, one is the valve and not leaking and one is the trv. The trv is leaking at the top of the nut for the join to the pipe. I'm not sure if this is right but I am thinking that when I replace the connector on the trv I will need to to cut the pipe back...

    10mm pipe and 15mm TRV.

Thankyou! I was trying to find one of them on screwfix - I think that’s what is currently in place. I have found them now I know what their called! http://www.screwfix.com/p/reducing-set-15-10mm/70435 How do I use it correctly? Is it just like using an olive? Cheers, David.

    10mm pipe and 15mm TRV.

Hey, I have 10mm plastic pipe feeding a radiator in my bathroom. On one side I have the TRV and the other the valve. The compression joint at the TRV to pipe is leaking. I have tried tightening it a bit but its slightly worse so I think I am just mangling the olive... At the valve end the...

    Moving Virgin cable modem

You isolator and housing should look like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIGITAL-CABLE-TV-BROADBAND-MODEM-WALL-BOX-FACEPLATE-ISOLATOR-VIRGIN-MEDIA-NTL-/281104974186?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item417329816a Virgin uses these kind of connectors...

    Moving Virgin cable modem

The only real way if your not happy to make your own cables is call virgin media and get them to move the modem. I think its about £99 unless you can talk them into doing it for free. The attenuator should unscrew from the modem and the connectors though - its a separate item. What ever...

How do you fit an end panel by a washing machine?

I would maybe try some sort of aluminium u rail (eg: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-x-1-Aluminium-U-Channel-Lengths-750-1500-mm-6063-T6-/400448484725?var=#vi-content). Fasten it to the floor with raw plugs then slide the panel in and drill through and screw from the inside, should hopefully leave...

Quick check on a chimey lining quote...

Thanks for all the replies - my internet connection has been up and down as well (country village) - but the works now done. For what its worth it was 904 grade steel. Neighbours are a council property and current tenants family have been in the house from new and have no plans to move. The...

How do you fit an end panel by a washing machine?

For what its worth B&Q designed my kitchen with the washing machine out on the end of a row of cabinets with an end panel holding up the worktop. It looked great on the plan but when I came to fit the kitchen I had the same issue you have. In the end I fixed it by swapping the washing machine...

Quick check on a chimey lining quote...

noseall - with a kid on the way I count every penny! :D I did wonder about that myself - I thought its easily a day perhaps a bit more, but then the builder knows the area and has done work in similar houses so I guess he knows what to expect. Also I'm not expecting 100% perfect plaster...

Quick check on a chimey lining quote...

Hope this is in the right forum, I just want to check that this quote is in the right region before we go ahead with the work. A bit of background first, we have a solid fuel back boiler that has been in place for at least 10 years, probably longer in our house that we bought just over two...
