Can I drill a wall treated for damp?

What kind of damp proofing treatment took place? If it was a tanking membrane (like the John Newton products) you're supposed to fix things as you've described. Same may apply for cementitious products. Either way, to bed in: when you've drilled the hole, add the mastic/resin and pop the...

    Drylining/stud wall questions

Thanks Woody. It's going to be 50mm behind the studs to avoid any thermal bridging (so it's continuous across the wall) - also, BC are inspecting for part L. May well insulate insulate between them, too, though. Cheers

    Drylining/stud wall questions

Hello, I'm installing some 50mm insulation board as part of some renovations that. Had looked at the laminated plasterboard, but need space for socket backboxes/cables etc. without compromising the insulation and vapour barrier. I'll need to dry-line this, and also hang a 450x1400mm...

    Debris in consumer unit

Thanks sparkticus :) That makes sense. The RCD appears to disconnect OK when tested with the button, and the MCBs + main switch seem to switch on/off smoothly. I need the electricians back to reconnect the circuits after some cable re-routing, anyway, so I'll ask them to give it a brush...

    Debris in consumer unit

Hello, I've a recently (Oct 10) installed Domae CU. A lot of work has taken place in the room in which it's situated (plaster removal). Despite my best efforts, some bits of debris have found their way inside. Mostly sitting on top of the circuit breakers. Is this likely to be a problem...

    Installing insulated plasterboard

I'll have a look at the Soudal stuff, thanks. Freddy: You'd think. But could be to do with fire/delamination. Either way, Kingspan installation docs and Newton's advice is to use both (or indeed just mech). I'm mainly concerned about whether or it should directly abut the floor - would...

    Installing insulated plasterboard

That's the stuff! Newlath 2000, or whatever it's called now. Mechanical fixings are to stop it delaminating (in a fire, or from the weight of the board). I think, but not sure, that building regs might stipulate them, too. The uninsulated walls will be dabbed only.

    Installing insulated plasterboard

The plugs that secure the membrane to the wall are designed to accept mechanical fixings. The alternative (from the vendor) is to use a wall plug filled with mastic, and fix to this.

    Installing insulated plasterboard

Hello, I'm going to be installing Kingspan K17 on top of a tanking membrane (5mm gap - masonry side, above ground). I'll be securing it with both dot and dab, and mechanical fixings. Should probably mention that I've not done this before! I understand that plasterboard usually stops...
