Adding Solar and additional thermal store

Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. My thoughts on the above were not aimed at capturing more energy than I'll ever need, because in the winter, the Immersun rarely satisfies the Telford TS on all but the sunniest of days And tht's just for DHW). My theory of slowly storing the thermal energy in the...

Knocking out brickwork for new window

I would say it depends on which way the rafters go for the roof, as to gauging the requirements for a lintel. I installed a window a few years ago in a gable end wall so I had a fair few courses above and it wasn't supporting the wallplate, however, I used a catnic lintel, something similar to a...

Adding Solar and additional thermal store

Hi, I'm fairly new to the renewables field but having recently moved into an older property on an exposed coastal site, I've started looking into various possibilities for improving both efficiency and energy storage. The house is a detached upside down style with a stepped footing on a sloping...

    Viritas R8 PIR's not working

Hi Stevie, Yeah, that could be the cause of the problem. The alarm cable are robust enough to do what they are designed to do but they don't withstand mechanical abuse particularly well. The cable should be easy enough to repair or possibly even replace provided you've got access to the entire...

    Strange Fault

Could this be a dodgy neutral? This might account for the fact that the RCD stays in until something is plugged into the socket. As soon as a potential exisits to the neutral, it rises instead of remaining at zero potential. I had a similar problem a while back with a clients garage supply. The...

    Viritas R8 PIR's not working

Sorry to have trodden on any corns here. It was just by the description Stevie gave, it implied the cable may have been pulled rather than surgery by scalpel. Also, was trying to explain why the alarm wasn't triggered when the damage ocurred. I was hoping to give him a little descriptive...

    Inhibit

Chances are if it's a new build, that the walls are all dry lines. If you good with a bit of copper core from some twin and earth or fish rods, you can usually fish the alarm cable from a pair of small holes made at floor to 1 metre up the wall.

Veritas R8 alarm set without pin

Hi, Single button set (As you describe), can be enabled as part of the engineers programming suite. It saves typing you PIN in every time you leave but can be a pain if you have kids with curious fingers. It can be enabled / disabled from within the programming menu. Hope the info helps...

    Viritas R8 PIR's not working

Hi, new here so hope this is going to the right thread. The alarm panel will not sound if the system is "Unset" and the Aux supply to the PIR's is removed. It is usual however, for the "Tamper" loop to be a 24hour and it will usually initiate an internal alarm if the circuit broken. The only...
