Digital bath filler - bath not filling

Thanks! I think the button is OK as it illuminates as does the shower half of the button (which switches on and off no problem) and appears to actually be trying to start the flow. I bought it four years ago, I'm not sure if the guarantee is 5 years but Mira is the next port of call!

Digital bath filler - bath not filling

Using a Mira Mode bath filler and shower – shower works fine but in the last two days the bath won't fill (it operates via a dual button controller). A trickle of water comes out of the bath filler – I've taken the panel off and removed the attached pipe to the filler but still only get a...

Fixing a folding table to a 44mm timber

I want to install a fold-down table in my garden cabin (built using 44mm width timbers) weight 8kg (specifically this: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/tables/dining-tables/norbo-wall-mounted-drop-leaf-table-birch-art-80091713/ ). I'm guessing it will be too heavy to simply use screws into...

Combi boiler diverter valve due to be replaced... started working again!

I've already paid £96 diagnosis - my primary query was the boiler is now working, do I proceed to get it fixed anyway on the basis that it's been kaputt (no radiator or water heating) all week up to now (for a higher price than a Worcester fixed price as I knew nothing about that unfortunately)...

Combi boiler diverter valve due to be replaced... started working again!

I've had a week without any heating or hot water after problems with a 15-year-old Worcester 28CDi combi boiler. The symptoms (from Googling them) all seemed to point to a malfunctioning diverter valve (no hot water or heating, but pilot light was firing and calling for heat briefly) and the...

    Hard wax oil over paint?

I bought a tin of this in a white tint on advice from a retailer: http://www.restexpress.co.uk/acatalog/Fiddes_Hard_Wax_Oil.html The tint is so light on untreated timber that you can barely see it and I wanted a slightly translucent white finish along the lines of this...

Log cabin/garden building interior - paint or not to paint?

I have just had a garden log cabin installed. Have treated the exterior with a Sadolin Supadec opaque paint which has gone on just fine. Now my wife wants the inside wood to be white - it's currently bare. Would a water-based primer/undercoat and similar top coat be OK for this sort of wood...

Zanussi tumbledryer - hot air but clothes won't dry

Thanks stillp, I've got the side panels off but can't get at the pump yet. The heat exchanger looks fine. I have found the belt has torn in half though. Now forgive my ignorance, but would this cause the symptoms above? Is a simple belt replacement all I need, or could something else still be...

Zanussi tumbledryer - hot air but clothes won't dry

Hi folks, have got a problem on a Zanussi TCE 7124 W. Wife been telling me our dryer was on the blink so I've cleaned all the filters today. They're all fine. Hot air is definitely being generated, but the clothes don't seem to be drying and there's no water being transferred to the water...

Certification needed to re-route outdoor power cable?

No, not protected at the CU (see here: http://i.imgur.com/PoYqdNF.jpg ). Load-wise, just typical office equipment - two printers, maximum four laptops, a couple of screens. Probably maximum three double sockets, security light and one or two fluorescent lighting tubes. My main reason...

Certification needed to re-route outdoor power cable?

Sorry, my terminology is probably all over the place (as you can tell, I wouldn't be carrying out this work myself, I have a competent friend who is an electrical engineer who would be doing this, I am just trying to establish what I need to do before getting him round). The cable comes from...

Certification needed to re-route outdoor power cable?

I had an existing power cable run from my house to an external garage when I moved in, all buried with SWA cable. I have now removed the garage and replaced with a garden office/log building. The cable is in exactly the same place, I just need to renew the RCD and run the new cable for...

Belling range - both ovens not working, but hob/grill OK

I have a Belling double oven, model 151 - this one I think: http://www.chef-rangecookers.com/printable_pages/belling/belling-evolution151_152_153_printable_page.htm The upper right (conventional) and bottom left (fan oven) have both stopped working. The right-hand one went first about...

SOLVED Replacing cylinder lock, can't remove retaining screw

Actually, ignore me. I fixed it after taking a closer look and realised it was part of the double-lock mechanism. If I 'unengaged' that, the retaining 'plate' moved aside!

SOLVED Replacing cylinder lock, can't remove retaining screw

Wife's bag with keys and ID was stolen last night so trying to change lock on my uPVC door. Everything online makes it look nice and easy to remove cylinder retaining screw but mine seems to have some kind of barrier between the door side faceplate and the screw, preventing it from simply being...

Turned off street stopcock, water still flowing

I would have assumed (yeah, I know  ) that I'd've had a stopcock in a normal place - until obviously an emergency happened and I found out I should have checked first!

Turned off street stopcock, water still flowing

No. The heating and hot water is via a standalone combi boiler.

Turned off street stopcock, water still flowing

Thanks for the advice. I just rang Southern Water and they said they'd get someone out but only within 10 working days. Which leaves me a bit stuck. Is there any way I can shut off water to only the basin taps in the meantime?

Turned off street stopcock, water still flowing

Hi, am trying to change bathroom basin and taps. There is no stopcock to be found inside the house (only been here a year and never had a need to look before), no isolator valves on basin pipes and, having taken off bath panel, not on bath taps either. So I've pulled up the trap in front of...

Heating OK, no water downstairs, only cold upstairs

Actually, could it be the outside tap has frozen the pipes leading into the kitchen? It was covered but have just checked and the cover has come off and the tap inlet completely blocked with ice. Should I go at the outside tap with a hairdryer or the inside/kitchen ones first?
