I bought a tin of this in a white tint on advice from a retailer:

The tint is so light on untreated timber that you can barely see it and I wanted a slightly translucent white finish along the lines of this:

I know this is probably a real no-no but just in case... what terrors would I unleash if I used a watered-down white paint as an 'undercoat' and put the Fiddes over the top of it? It's expensive stuff, so I don't really want to waste it but realise me placing one entirely different product over paint may have competent DIYers throwing their hands up!

Is this for tongue boarding on walls, or floors?

In either case it is not recommended that you mix oil based products with water based., or hard wax oil with any kind of paint tbh.

Why do you want to put wax oil on top - to achieve a shiny finish, or what?
