I'm putting down 19mm floorboarding over my upstairs hallway chipboard. I want a white (ish) finish. Do I use Lime wax on the bare wood or as I've heard, a weak emulsion then sealed with floor varnish or as in a previous topic here, just paint with oil based paint. I would prefer to lime wax/wash but have never tried it - any advice at all is welcome.

I limewaxed my mums cupboards in her kitchen and it came out really well. if thats the effect you want (a white wood rather than a painted colour) i'd say go with lime wax. As long as the boards are completely cleam and varnish free, lime waxings easy. it's what i like to call "dib, dab, rub" :)

you can used thinned down emultion, and it is cheaper, but looks cheaper too IMO.. lime wax should be fine on a floor, even in an area that gets a lot of traffic.. plus it's easy to touch up if you do damage it (dragging furnature over it for example).
