    Is this earthing method dangerous?

That's what I thought, but is it dangerous? and is it something I ought to tell my neighbour about?

    Is this earthing method dangerous?

I called my DNO who said they did not store this information. If I was worried about my earthing I should call in an electrician. If he finds the earth loop impedance too high then the DNO would come out, free of charge, to try to rectify it, although "it was not [their] responsibility". It...

    Is this earthing method dangerous?

Thanks to everybody who has tried to help. Our houses were originally converted to TN-S about 35 years ago by London Electricity using a simple clamp on the incoming cable. (Previously the lead water supply pipe was used.) Is this adequate nowadays or should it be soldered on to the sheath...

    Is this earthing method dangerous?

I noticed my neighbour's main earthing conductor has been moved from a simple clamp on the incoming cable sheath to the neutral in a Henley block on the cable from the meter to the CU. I know enough to know this is wrong, but is it dangerous? I would rather not say anything to my neighbour...

    Kingspan between loft joists

Thanks for your reply securespark. What I was worried about was all that metal foil that could become live if there was a fault in the electrical insulation etc. I thought there might be some regulation that covered this. Or is this only considered a problem in bathrooms etc?

How tight should a fitted carpet be?

Thanks everyone for the replies. After I complained to Carpetright head office the local manager (Ilford, Essex) brought the fitter back again this week but again they would not accept anything was wrong. The fitter said he had been fitting carpets like this for thirty years. I won't buy from...

How tight should a fitted carpet be?

I had a carpet fitted two weeks ago but I am not happy with the fitting. I don't think the carpet is tight enough on the grippers. In a few places the carpet looks fine and completely flat but mostly the carpet bulges up a few inches from the gripper and in a few places I can lift the carpet off...

    Sink fixing clips

Thanks big-all. I read on a forum somewhere that its better to seal cut edges with silicon instead of polyurethane varnish. If so, do you just smear it all on with a scraper/spreader? Advice appreciated.

    Sink fixing clips

Update: No luck with skips - everything but sinks. So tried B&Q W/H: they sell packs of 6 clips BUT they are also selling a Franke s/s 11/2 bowl sink with a moulded in seal (never seen this before) together with a mixer tap ( appears ceramic) and all waste fittings for £64 so I bought one. End...

    Sink fixing clips

Skip diving? Is that like bungee jumping? Maybe I'll take a look round the neighbourhood this weekend. I'll let you know if I'm lucky.

    Sink fixing clips

Thanks for the replies. I bought the sink from B&Q so I will enquire there first. If no luck I will do as big-all suggests. Thanks again.

    Sink fixing clips

Yes, but I am fitting the sink into a new worktop and some of the original clips are very rusty due to a faulty seal on the sink.

    2 x 2.5mm² T&E in 25mm round uPVC conduit?

Could anyone say whether it is in fact permissible to run 2.5T&E cable (32A ring main) to and from a socket, in 20mm PVC conduit, as in the original question from Bonebill, even if not recommended for other reasons?
