    Warped MDF backsplash

Happy new year all, I recently purchased laminated backsplash from B&Q. It is warped in both directions, which is preventing me from gluing it back to the wall. Length ways is not really a problem, but width ways is a real headache. I returned the first lot, but the replacements are just...

    House supply

Crafty, the cables will definitely not be in any insulation. They would pass through approx 500mm from apex for no more than 1000mm. Would this be Ok?

    House supply

The cables supplying my house are fixed to the external wall. They run across the back wall and feed another three houses. I'm having an extension built and have heard two conflicting storeys. I was led to believe that they could be built over (within the extension roof cavity). I've since...

    Loft Insulation and 1mm Cable

Well pardon me for breathing!!!! Whats the point in having a useful tool such as this when you cant get straight answers from certain people? I passed 16th edition in December 04 but this dosnt make me an expert by anybodies definition. I find the brown books a little hard to interpret...

    Loft Insulation and 1mm Cable

So, just to recap then If my 1mm lighting cable is clipped to the side of the joist in the loft space and then covered with loft insulation, it is then considered to be completely surrounded by thermally insulating material and should therefore be derated by a factor of 0.5? The design...

    Loft Insulation and 1mm Cable

Does reference method 4 on page 120 OSG mean that the cables in the loft must be in conduit or are they OK clipped direct to the sides of the joist as this will ensure that they are not completely surrounded by thermal insulation? Assuming that wood is classed as "Thermally Conductive"? Page...

Current carrying capacity of ring main

On Kevin Boones cable calculator for a typical domestic ring circuit, it keeps telling me that I cant have a 32amp MCB protecting a 2.5mm ring main because the cable rating is only coming in at 27amps. Even 16th edition suggest's that this is a perfectly acceptable configuration? Can someone...
