Outside light/RCD?

Fitting a light under a porch/door canopy. Does it have to be RCD protected?

NO, but if it requires earthing it should be, and in any case it should be adequately weather proof enough for its position, (suggest IP 44 as a good start) and of a design unlikley to lead to accidental damage. (i.e. designed for outdoor use if not actually indoors.)
Also high enough not to be struck by a tall person!
