Whats these external trims called? What's best to replace with?

Hi guys, what do you call the black trim/boards on my 60s town house? I am going to get them replaced in UPVC. Is that possible? Anyone got any links to the stuff so I can research? It seems to be a ply or something and its very weathered and cracking. Thanks for any info.

Cladding material - replace with upvc, or ply again?

Hi all, our estate is having the plywood panels replaced as they are weathered as part of external redecoration. I asked for mine to just be painted as I felt they weren't that bad and I want to investigate upvc. Do mine look that bad? Been quoted £500 to replace. I really prefer upvc, can I...

Sparky tried to do CAT5 repair!

Got asked to look at a slow internet connection, found a join in an out building. https://photos.app.goo.gl/gLDb9GQScxrIsy1s1 I guess this is reason why the PC would only run at 10Mbps! Got an IDC CAT6 box to punch down and re join the cables.

Prepwork for cavity insulation but discovered frost damage

Hi all. I had to clear all the foliage and earth from our end wall before the cavity work could be done. The soil and greenery was above the DPC in some places. Anyway, I have cleared it and swept it, noticed the brickwork is frost damaged, should I get it sorted in due course? How bad does it...

Odd (to me) garage leccy setup

https://photos.app.goo.gl/XdcNMpMf5Vriot5J2 Above are some images of the garage leccy setup. The garage has a door lifter, plus emergancy light. The high level and low level sockets are each on their own MCB. What I don't understand is, why is there a "rocker/non latching" switch above the...

Understanding my leccy setup in kitchen

Hi all, I'm a network tech and my Dad is a retired electrical fitter so a bit out of date. I have a sparky I can ask but wanted some comments first. Ok, my (new to me) 70s build flat had a periodic inspection as part of my purchase. It needed a new fuse board and RCD as it had a power shower...
