    Cable help please....

I’m under the impression that it should be 2 core shielded CY cable but what do I know; I’m only a diy nerd.

How To Wire Drayton Wiser 1-Channel Smart Hub to Ideal Logic Max Combi C35 using OpenTherm

No problem. I saw that bit. I’m fine with the wiring bit. N, L, 1 and 3 or maybe remove the 1 and 3 if I go Opentherm.

How To Wire Drayton Wiser 1-Channel Smart Hub to Ideal Logic Max Combi C35 using OpenTherm

I needed this ⬆️ information. I had suspected that only one of the control cables was needed (opentherm or relay switching). What difference does it make if both are connected? I have seen a YouTube video of this where the relay switching wasn’t used. Someone asked why that was the case but...

Upgrading my boiler thermostat. Best option please.

Ended up having to change the backplate because they are slightly different. Works fine. I’ll be connecting the Opentherm when I obtain some suitable 2 core shielded cable. Wiser TRVs will be added over time.

Upgrading my boiler thermostat. Best option please.

Got my Wiser Kit one. Can anyone confirm I just need to move one wire from 2 to 3 for the backplate to accept the Wiser? I know the wires need to come from behind the backplate which the installer evidently didn’t. Current receiver is a ESRTP4RF+. I would have liked to connect up the opentherm...

    Spur plug socket fault.

Because I am the one who said it. I used to use 2 pole testers fault finding on electrical appliances in my former trade.

    Spur plug socket fault.

OP used to use a two pole tester regularly in a previous job.

Upgrading my boiler thermostat. Best option please.

I’ve ordered a Wiser receiver and thermostat. Hopefully will have it fitted next weekend then I’ll progress with radiator stats over time.

    Spur plug socket fault.

It could be end of a radial if the feed is what I now suspect it might be, a former electrical shower feed. Not checked for the mcb. I was only on a quick visit and took some some basic bits believing it might be a simple quick fix. I’m 250 miles away from my son’s home. Only went down for my...

Upgrading my boiler thermostat. Best option please.

No I didn’t pay for a smart thermostat. The Ideal boiler out performs my old Worcester Bosch so no issue with the boiler. I did a quick box in of the pipework because it needed covering up fast. It was me that rived it off as I wanted them to get on with the service. I will make a better job...

Upgrading my boiler thermostat. Best option please.

I’m tempted by the Wiser. My son suggested that one too.

Upgrading my boiler thermostat. Best option please.

We had a new boiler fitted last year. I used one of the companies that do it within the day. I requested a Worcester Bosch with a smart thermostat. They persuaded us that an Ideal boiler would be better. To be fair I am impressed with the boiler’s performance. The bath fills quicker than...

    Spur plug socket fault.

Recently discovered a socket in my son’s loft. No obvious power to it. Tried a Martindale socket tester, nothing. Opened the socket. It’s a spur. Tested with non contact voltage tester pen and power was shown to be strangely on live, neutral and earth. Then tried a neon mains tester and nothing...

    Problem Driveway

I was hoping to have a bonded resin driveway when funds allow. Just want to get rid of the crazy stuff and prepare in advance for a future surface.

Insulating over boards, or not - advice appreciated.

I'd tear out the boards. Lofts shouldn't be used to store anything. If you store it in the loft then you probably don't need it again. So get rid and recycle it. It might be worth taking out all the current insulation and getting it done again for free. Energy companies won't top up...

    Problem Driveway

We bought a house with a crazy paving driveway. Not only does it look hideous and dated it is now deteriorating due to the fact that we use it. As best I can tell, before I start ripping it up, it is Westmorland Stone (or some other green stone) mortared on top of a concrete slab driveway...
