Hi. Get some plumbers mait putty. Roll a sausage shape and push it around the pan connecter where it’s leaking. This is a common bodge that should last.

What's going on with this toilet cistern?!

Ah ok I see. Yes if you were to pull the whole pan and cistern away from the wall, you wouldn’t see something like the photo you posted. If you’re lucky, the plumber would’ve fitted flexi attachments so you would have a bit of play. There should also be an isolation valve on the mains too which...

What's going on with this toilet cistern?!

If you just need to remove the flush valve, you don’t need to remove the cistern. Just rotate it 180 degrees and it pops out. Take to nearest plumbers merchant and get a new one. Reverse to put back in.

    Mixer shower too hot

Well I found out the problem so will post here as it may help someone. Took shower head off and ran hose on cold and then hot. Hot flow rate was noticeably more than cold so guessed the pump was the problem. Whipped out the pump and the flow restrictor on the hot outlet had broken hence...

    surrey flange

Hi there. I would say you do not have a Surrey flange fitted. To me it just looks like a bit of 22mm and a standard compression T joint. Really need a Surrey flange in there and would be an easy swap over job. Think they are about £40 from screwfix. Good luck.

    Mixer shower too hot

Hi plumbers. Looking for advice on a thermostatic mixer shower problem. It’s a gravity system running off a salamander pump and it runs too hot. When on full cold it will run cold but the slightest increase in hot, it becomes too hot. I’ve changed the cartridge but that didn’t fix the issue...

    Worcester Bosch 24 expansion vessel

Hi. My 15year old Worcester Bosch 24 suddenly started rising in pressure when the heating was on and blew the prv. I put a new prv in and checked for pressure at the expansion vessel schrader valve. Nothing came out- no air or water. Re pressurised vessel to .7 bar and everything is running...

The house is 50 years old, I've lived in it for 15 years and the cables have never needed to be worked on. I appreciate the reply but really want to know if I've done anything against regulations.

    Upvc cladding over power lines

Hi all. Looking for some advice here. As in the title, I've just had some upvc exterior cladding fitted on the side of my house. The wall was battened and then cladding attached to the battens. The wall had two power lines running along it which have now been hidden under the cladding. I didn't...

    Soakaway for block drive.

Hi there. Thinking about doing my own block paving drive and I know I need to provide drainage for rain water. The driveway slopes from the road to the garage so ideally, a drainage channel along the garage threshold connected to a soakaway would be perfect but my problem is, one side of the...

    Overhead electric cables question

Hi. I'm about to install some upvc weatherboard on the gable end of my house but a problem I have is, there is a very big overhead cable attached to the gable end. Does this mean the weatherboard cannot be safely installed or is it possible to get the electricity company to isolate it while the...

    Fixing bath to wall.

Hi. Looking for a bit of advice. I've just bought an acrylic Carron bath and will be fitting it soon.
