    Static caravan electrical question

Interesting replies guys, thanks. It's definitely a 16a supply, as are all of the caravans in the vicinity (I only checked the immediate neighbours but they had 16a too and I'm led to believe it's the same throughout the site). Perhaps the reason for this is the site owners desire to get as many...

    Static caravan electrical question

Fair enough, as I said it was a hypothetical question and the obvious answer is to use less power, it just made me ponder alternative solutions and the possibility of having some sort of 'reset' indoors. My proposal was not to physically move the site owners equipment indoors, only the 'fault'...

    Static caravan electrical question

Thanks for the reply John, I can almost guarantee it's an overloading issue having calculated his approximate power usage prior to the MCB operating. I can confirm it is a 16a MCB, not RCD in a small CU inside a plastic pole mounted outdoor box with a meter inside, this is connected via 4mm T+E...

    Static caravan electrical question

Hi all, hypothetical question really, I'm just curious to know the answer. I was working on my friends static caravan at the weekend and he started telling me about how his 'fuse' trips, leaving him with no power and having to go outside, usually, or probably more noticeable to him, in the...

Adding remote fan for cooker hood

To replace the fan on my cooker hood with a more powerful unit fitted in the loft but still operated using the controls on the hood. You'll have to ask my wife why we didn't get a more powerful hood. :)

Adding remote fan for cooker hood

Thanks John, That's what I was thinking but I was unsure about it (the extractor fan) being isolated in the kitchen.

Adding remote fan for cooker hood

Thanks for the reply b-a-s. I should have said extractor fan, sorry. The ducting will exit the roof via a tile vent. The extractor fan in the loft will be connected into the ducting. There is a weep socket for condensation and the ducting in the loft is insulated...

Adding remote fan for cooker hood

I am about to install a new cooker hood which has to be vented through the airing cupboard above, into the loft and out via a roof vent. I would like to add a remote fan in the loft space operated by the fan switch on the hood, ideally. Can I run a cable directly from the switched live of...

Replacing Lintel with Larger Void - 3metres

You will need BC approval, who may or may not require SE calcs. Give BC a call, it's free and they'll advise you on the best way to proceed.

    MK MCB

Completely agree John, the idea of buying used 'fully tested' mcb's off the internet doesn't sit well with me either, I would rather use new. I'll have a look at that adapter kit, at least I could use a new mcb with that, but I can't say I fancy it other than a last resort, thanks though rf and...

    fitting stained glass

They're probably recessed anyway but if not then you need to install a means of retaining the pane in the aperture using beading etc. on the external as well as the internal side. A 1mm pilot hole for your pins will be ok, pop the heads below the surface, fill and sand.

    MK MCB

Thanks for looking anyway :) I think you're right, I can't find those new anywhere either. Used it is then :( [/url]

Shower keeps going hot and cold...

It would appear that the drop in water pressure to your boiler when you turn the cold tap on is causing it to cut out. How high do you have your dhw set? How old is your boiler and was it fitted to an existing system? There are a few things it could be so your best bet is to call the person who...

    fitting stained glass

Not much point using putty if you have an enclosed porch unless you're proficient at using it, the only benefit of putty is its weathertightness. If your apertures are recessed use silicone to hold the pane to the door and quadrant moulding or similar on the inside, finished to suit. If they are...

    MK MCB

I need an MK LN5920 mcb and can only find used ones, I know they're old and I'm not averse to using used if I must but I was wondering if there is an equivalent available?

    Garden building concrete base

You would need proper footings for a blockwork building, timber frame would require a lot less. You would also need building control approval. A concrete base for a shed would be 100mm compacted hardcore and 100mm concrete reinforced with a143 welded mesh.

    Tapered chimney for barbecue??

Do you want exactly what is in the picture? If so it needs a few alterations to improve its rigidity. You can use fire bricks to line the oven area once it's constructed.paving slab worktops? Why not granite or tiles? Your hood would be built around formwork which is removed once your mortar is...
