We just took cover off boiler and there is a motorised valve inside it. Does that resolve anything?

The radiators all still work whether the RF in the hall is on or off. It doesn't seem to do anything but then it's flashing green and red like it's doing something. So confusing!

The other radiators can get hot but they don't trigger on thermostat because once the living room is warm enough the heating turns off. The other rooms are much colder yet the boiler doesn't kick in in response to that. It's like the wired thermostat in the living room is the only one...
