Removing a ceiling light pull Keeping wall switch

Thanks for your help with this. I managed to get it all squared away in a junction box and shoved up in the ceiling. Plasterer has filled the hole and you’d never know it was there. Thanks again for the advice

Suspended floor insulation and damp proofing questions

I went exploring, the amount of efflorescence on the oversite was amazing. I dug down the the soil does not seem excessively wet. I have a very good bituminous DPC which appears to be working well there is no moisture at all above this. I am contemplating laying down a plastic DPC across the...

Suspended floor insulation and damp proofing questions

Hey, thanks for the reply and advice. I think I may install another air brick on the side wall. I have three on the front wall and only two on the side wall and neither really get the wind to aid in ventilation. Apart from the sub soil it’s not too damp down there, even off cuts of floor board...

    Build upon existing conservatory footprint

Thanks for the replies. There is no cavity it’s just early with a concert slab and DPC on top. It would be a shame to dig this up to insulate but I guess wouldn’t take too long and cost a great deal. I would be taking the tiles up and continuing the new laminate from the kitchen and putting...

Right, that's where I'm confused. My fitter told me to pick up a hose myself. What exactly does...

    Interior Victorian window mechanism pulley

Hi all I'm slowly in the process of redoing everything in a very late Victorian early Edwardian house. In the next project room is a window above the door and half a metal mechanism. I have searched everywhere details of what the full device looked like and what it's even called but have drawn a...

Is it safe to cut this old gas pipe?

Bernard good observations but it's the opposite way round. The gas flow pipe above comes from the wall so the flow is from left to right. A new pipe was placed outside the wall the other side which goes into the ground in the same direction as the old pipe. So I'm hoping that the pipe below was...

Is it safe to cut this old gas pipe?

Yeah it's a weird one, it's definitely cemented at the end and not capped properly. It can't be a water pipe as this goes into the rear where it has been since the day the house was built. The strange thing is where it comes in was where the original Victorian era cold store was? Good...
