    Replacement Solid Floor Insulation Options

Did mine last year when had the extension, took up existing floor in kitchen and it had to be 100mm of celotex, that was under former building regs, might be even more now new regs apply.

Loft insulation in old house with partially sloping/vaulted ceiling

One more point - half way down the rafters there is a bean that goes along the length of the loft horizontally each side which supports the rafters, they just lean on it, so I would need to wrap that beam to create a continuous barrier, or something else?

Loft insulation in old house with partially sloping/vaulted ceiling

Hi, resurrecting this thread as I have a similar issue, I have vaulted/sloping ceilings, the walls in the rooms get to the 6ft height and then there is a slope, total ceiling height is about 2.5m, but the slope comes about 2ft into the room. The roof only has 70x50mm rafters and we use the loft...

    Underfloor heating cost & advice

Thanks for the replies, the floor in the old area is concrete but all over the place so will need self levelling, plus it was put down 40 years ago so I thought might as well get it up and start again so it meets current specs/regs.

    Underfloor heating cost & advice

Hi All, Having a new extension built in the next 12 months which will be 61m2, including knocking into an existing room (14m2) which has a concrete floor. I'm wanting to put underfloor heating in and have a tiled floor (wife wants porcelain tiles - maybe thats another post) so far I've done a...

Insulated plasterboard for bathroom with solid walls

Thanks for the advice, I'm thinking what about celotex 25mm with an aquapanel plasterboard - rather than the PL4000? http://www.wickes.co.uk/Knauf-Aquapanel-Water-Resistant-Wall-Board-1200-x-900-x-12-5mm/p/207027...

Insulated plasterboard for bathroom with solid walls

Thanks both, bath will be against this wall. Don't want to lose more than a couple of inches, hence 25mm then board then tiles. Currently there is nothing, so thought this must be better than no insulation.

Insulated plasterboard for bathroom with solid walls

Hi, I'm having my bathroom refitted in the new year but wanted to insulate the outside wall - it is a solid wall so was looking at something like Celotex PL4000 directly fixed to the wall. I'm looking to lose as little space as possible so was thinking about going for the 25mm insulation with...

    Rainshower

I guess you've all asked the questions I'm looking for help on. She wants the clean look, flush head in the ceiling, which is about 8ft high, it will have to be fed from my combi, as that's all I have and yes its a hard water area. She's basically looking for a minimalistic look, rain head...

    Concrete base advice

Hi, thanks for the reply. I was talking to a guy who has put a 700kg bbq on a 4 inch base - he's had that down for 2 years with no issues... so far.

    Concrete base advice

Hi, I'm currently planning an outdoor oven for next spring time and have seen the one I want (buying a pre-fab) but need to build a base. This thing weighs 400kgs so I'm guessing I need to put a slab down that will support this plus the brick walls to take it to a height I can use, so that's...

Recommend 4x CCTV IP POE with recording

I've recently bought a HIKVision camera from ebay and was very impressed, it has POE and you can use it standalone or connect it to a NVR. there are lots of different types, lots of the new ones have onboard SD card recording, POE and wifi, so very flexible options. the onyl issue is...

    Remote control switch/light switch

[/url] Hi, yes, that looks like a contender, thought they would be cheaper than that though - tempted to try a remote plug adaptor - I've seen the whole set up for £15 in aldi. Not sure if it would work 20+ meters away.

    Remote control switch/light switch

No, to be clear I want a remote - either built into a switch or a fob type device.

    Remote control switch/light switch

Hi, no as I want the ability to turn them on myself, already have security lights, but want to be able to light the place up if I want to, to be used on dark evening for family events also to light up the patio area etc, so would to add to existing lighting.

    Remote control switch/light switch

EDIT: Or obviously a remote fob to control it, but preferred something 'nailed down'.
