    Best quality kitchen?

Hi All I'm on the lookout for a new kitchen and can't decide on which make to go for. Choosing from Wren, B&Q, Homebase, Magnet, Howdens etc, which one provides the best quality units? Are there any particular makes I should stay clear of? Many thanks Phil

How much to change a 60A DNO fuse for a 100A?

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'm getting an extension built that will more than double the size of the house. But I'm also getting a workshop built at the same time which will house a lot of servers and storage arrays running 24/7. The workshop bit is to do with my job so work pay my...

How much to change a 60A DNO fuse for a 100A?

I currently have a 60A cut out fuse - an electrician has told me I may need to upgrade it to 100A to meet my needs. If he's right, how much would it cost? Is it simply a case of SPEN coming along, removing the 60A fuse and replacing it with a 100A, or is there more to it? In case it makes a...

Outdoor sockets that can take 2 x 6mm SWA cores?

Thanks for the reply John. I'll take a look at Crabtree. Just to clarify, I don't mean room in the back box - I mean the copper cores fitting in to the holes in the rear of the socket.

Outdoor sockets that can take 2 x 6mm SWA cores?

Hi All, I have an electrician installing eight outdoor sockets around the garden - because of the cable run, he's using 6mm SWA. Problem is, we can't find any outdoor sockets than can fit two 6mm cores. BG say their outdoor Nexus range has a '2 x 6mm terminal capacity' but I bought one and...

SWA in to Henley Block? Is that OK?

Will do when my phone's charged lol. A mate (admittedly not qualified) said whoever had fitted the CU had used the SWA as 'tails'. Does this make any sense?

SWA in to Henley Block? Is that OK?

Hi All Just moved in to a new house and noticed the garage CU is wired directly in to the house Henley block via 16 or 25mm SWA. Is this method OK? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Phil

    Outdoor recessed lighting

I'm in the UK. Yes, it's a new lighting circuit. Connect the circuit to the CU, connect the lights and carry out any necessary tests. Because the T&E will be going along an outside wall. So if I run a single length of T&E from the CU to the roof space, would there then be a junction box...

    Outdoor recessed lighting

Hi I'm looking at getting some outdoor recessed (soffit) lighting installed. To save a bit of cash, am I allowed to do the cabling with an electrician making the connections etc? I'd be looking to run the cable through the outside wall and then (in conduit) up a bit and along to the roof space...
