Here's an update. I removed the gaps. I also added 2 supports. This gave it so much strength/support - exactly what the doctor ordered. It also flattened out the panels as they were a little bit wavey. Now they all line up.

Doh. I'm in the process of removing the gaps.

I first fixed a support to each existing end, then I fitted the panels to this new support.

I think I'm going to add a centre post for stability tomorrow. I'll get pic up then.

I used some soft wood for making my landing stairs child safe. I realised towards the end it was softwood - rookie mistake. However, it looks good and I think will hold but will obviously take a battering. Is there a way to toughen the wood? Thanks

I've got a wooden batton at the front door and it's got to stay put. However, I'm unsure how to make this look good. I guess I'll still need the 10mm gap - so suggestions for how to finish this edge appreciated. Also, I'm going to start at the door jamb in the pic. Is it right to only go as far...

Sorry for late reply. I'm going to put down laminate and hope to float it... The floor is level but some of the tiles have broken up when removing the grippers. What can I repair these with or will it be ok as is? Thanks

I think this is for an old door bell. I was going to remove it but then noticed it seems to be wired into the plug below it. Is it just a case of unwiring it from the plug below? Thanks

I was going to have my floor screeded but since discovered, it's perfectly level with the old floor tiles on. I'm going to use an underlay membrane and then float the flooring on top. Do I need a DPM? Thanks

Yesterday I had my carpenter put in a new floor board in the upstairs hall. I pre-warned him pipes were underneath and we had a bit of banter about how I would like to learn more about carpentry etc 5 minutes later he comes down to tell me he's hit a pipe... 45 minutes of sitting with my thumb...

I've never done anything with flooring before. We have old tile-like things under our carpet and I want to lay some sort of flooring on top of this. It is a downstairs floor, does this mean I don't need a damp proof membrane applied first? My plan was to just buy some self-levelling...

If its not an SSD (flash) drive use can use DBAN (boot and nuke) from sourceforge.net otherwise you need to do a secure erase. Do a Google search for secure erase ssd.

Thanks for replies. Its all existing cabling from when i moved in. It was a 70s wall light which i am completely removing. I did buy a wall plate to put on top. So to remove the cable, does that box unscrew, remove cable and voila?
