Where could this damp spot be coming from?

How do you know there isn't a cavity? The room is converted from the barn area so you are surely right about there being no cavity

Where could this damp spot be coming from?

It's going to rain the next few days so I won't be taking up any tiles, but I could put a pipe there to carry the water straight down to the gutter instead of running over the tiles. Then if the damp starts reducing, I'll know it's an issue with the water from the top gutter. If the damp...

Where could this damp spot be coming from?

I've tried to have a look at that area from inside the barn and I can see the felt isn't quite going all the way to the verge tiles. So perhaps when it rains there is some water getting between gaps in the tiles and the felt is not doing it's job. Something like this you mean?

Where could this damp spot be coming from?

In the top corner of a currently unoccupied cold room, there is always a damp area in the top corner of the wall. I have run a dehumidifier in the room to try and reduce the damp spot, but it gets damper again. There are more spots underneath that are also damp. The bottom of the wall isn't...

Water trapped between concrete pipe section and wall

Initially I wanted to see if the concrete rings could hold water, however they are leaking in a few places. After digging up the area between the rings and the wall, I noticed that water would pool and drain very slowly, so now I am not sure if I can just fill it with soil or do something else...

Water not draining from paved area

We have an uneven paved area and water is not draining fast enough to prevent the water from pooling. Is pooling water like this a hazard or risk? What are the solutions to prevent this from happening?

Water trapped between concrete pipe section and wall

There are 2 concrete pipe sections that were previously used as a water butt. I emptied the water because they were leaking and we don't actually need to collect this water. I removed the stones between the pipe section and the wall and dug down removing all the earth. However I have noticed...

    Downpipe to drain connection

Today I completed a cast iron downpipe to PVC drain connection. The rain water is deposited in to a ditch that runs along the side of the property. I want to do the same on the other end of the gutter, however there is a thick concrete (I assume) slab that runs along the ground next to the...

I was considering something more like a light plaster so that the surface is even and stable.

Tiles falling off kitchen wall. What can I cover the wall with?

Some tiles are very loose and we have pulled them off the wall with ease. The plan is to move the kitchen to a different room next year and this room will be completely renovated. The area circled blue is wood. What can we use to easily cover this area until next year?

should I fill this hole before installing the lamp?

I plan to install the following lamp on my bathroom ceiling. There is already a hole in the ceiling for the cable. The ceiling is green plasterboard, then a 5cm air gap, then vapor control barrier and then wool insulation, then a cold vented space. Do I need to fill the hole so it is...

unable to close the door. need to shave a few mm off the top lip

I have added a white arrow to the part of the door that needs to be trimmed as it doesn't fit under the frame. I used a circular saw and an electric plane for the bottom of the door which worked well, however this part of the door is a bit tricky and I can't do it with the plane. What tool...

Replacing piece of waste pipe in situ

Here is the result of my and my wife's morning. There is a 1cm in the sleeve highlighted in red. Hopefully that will not cause issues. All pipes were champfer with hand file and sanded with 120 grit. Lube is essential. Now we will run the water and observe all joints to check no water is...

Replacing piece of waste pipe in situ

Thanks for the instructions. With regards to cutting and chamfering, I have a small device for holding pipes in place and stable for cutting. I plan to cut the pipe with either a hand saw or an oscillating multi-tool, and chamfer the ends with a hand file. How does this sound?
