Which sized joist hangers for face fix?

Managed to get a reply from my SE and she said the above is fine so it might be the easiest option, unless anyone can think of any glaring issues?

Which sized joist hangers for face fix?

I was considering this, but would require getting/ hiring a hilti nailer (and using it!). If I have the joists like in the OP I will have 50mm between the steel and top of joists, but if the joists are flush with the bottom of the steel then it's only 43mm. I would talk to my SE but she's away...

Which sized joist hangers for face fix?

Thanks, i'll do that on the other steel. Would it be a good idea to remove the one i've done already and replace? For flush timbers, would you still recommend really long jiffy hangers wrapped over? I was looking at Simpson face fix initially as this is what the SE suggested (but when i've...

Which sized joist hangers for face fix?

I've only packed one of the steels - the web was an awkward size, but I can pack the other one with something slimmer (although SE signed off the above anyway). Do you mean getting really long jiffy hangers and wrapping all the way over, nailing to the other side of the timber in the web too...

Which sized joist hangers for face fix?

My SE has specified face fix joist hangers for the new floor joists in my loft conversion. Looking online, I can only see 47x106mm, then it jumps to 47x167mm. The 106 would be too small for the joist I assume as it doesn't meet the 60% depth requirement, and the 167 wouldn't allow me to get all...

Can a concrete block go under a padstone to make up the height?

I wanted to get the steel in place and pack up the padstone with slate and mortar underneath it (between pad and brick) to get the top of the pad flush with the steel, rather than packing under the steel. I've also bought all the padstones the engineer has specced so want to make use of them...

Can a concrete block go under a padstone to make up the height?

I've got new steels going in for a loft conversion which involves lowering the floors. One side of the brick/ padstone is now the right height for the steel after redoing some of the mortar, but I just can't get the other side to the right height without removing and replacing loads of brick...

Loft dormer, sloping back to front to save height?

Any creative options from anyone? I think it's sounding like i'll just have to go with a cold roof and figure out the venting...

Loft dormer, sloping back to front to save height?

I've already reduced spacing with the 125mm joists, these would be at 200 ctrs as per the SE. These were initially 150mm at 400ctrs, so don't imagine i'll be able to go lower than 125 unfortunately.

Loft dormer, sloping back to front to save height?

I'm looking to do a loft dormer soon, but can't decide on a warm or cold roof. I would much rather a warm roof as it seems more reliable and generally better performance (and easier to install without all the venting), but I can't get the height to work with the building regs insulation...

Planning permission to raise the ridge height on a semi-detached?

Makes sense, cheers! Reckon the elevations i attached as well as a good design statement would suffice, or is there anything else necessary? And yeah what I sent was specifically about adding additional stories, in reply to what @^woody^ said: The link I was looking at says these specific...

Planning permission to raise the ridge height on a semi-detached?

I assumed I didn't have PD rights as the planning portal says the following: Have I got this wrong/ misunderstanding that? I assumed as the house is Edwardian I didn't have PD rights for extra stories.

Planning permission to raise the ridge height on a semi-detached?

Unfortunately I don't think that PD right would apply to me as the house was built in 1904, but in general yes I do find it a bit silly that this would kick up so much fuss but those PD rights exist for many houses. Good point re implying rather than outright stating, and having appeals at the...

Planning permission to raise the ridge height on a semi-detached?

Thanks for the replies. I would imagine the street scene looks fine as my neighbours houses are all semi detached and so far away - over 5 meters each side. On point 4, I can't afford to do both lofts right now so that may be a no go then. I know it's entirely dependant on the council and...

Planning permission to raise the ridge height on a semi-detached?

That's it yeah - if this would help get the planning passed. I intend to do a loft extension on the other in the future anyway though so would also be helpful there

Planning permission to raise the ridge height on a semi-detached?

I'm looking to increase the ridge height of my semi detached house, but not sure the best way to go about it. The reason behind it is to obviously increase the ceiling height, as I want to then put a dormer on, but would much rather some decent head height than what i will end up with (around...
