    Gas Supply Problem?

All done! Transco engineer came in, looked at prv and said "Ah.. one of those! Had a lot of trouble with them (one sugar's fine) and we change them on sight (yeah, not too strong)" So he did.. changed it and all back up and running. And now I can see just how the hob was playing up before...

    Gas Supply Problem?

Wow... that was quick. I have taken everyone's advice and rang the emergency number. Very helpful and someone is coming out. Just hope it isn't my imagination but I do quite like my eyebrows.

    Gas Supply Problem?

My wife complained today that she is having trouble lighting the gas hob. The spark doesnt seem to want to ignite the gas and when it odes there seems to be "a lot" of gas. I also noticed today, but didnt think much about it at the time, that the c/heating boiler is roaring more than normal. I...

Dyson DC04 Power cable and switch removal

Thank you Sleepyhead. Have managed it using a small allen key with an extra bend. Cable outer had cracked and separated so repair is straightforward. However to have left it would have been creating a substantial safety risk. But what a so and so to get that blooming button out!

Dyson DC04 Power cable and switch removal

Hello, and thanks for your help. I guess this is the slot down the side of the button itself (on the same side as the handle)? Very small and about an inch deep? Bloody Dysons - still won't come away. Thought I'd better just check before I lean on it a bit harder. Tried welding wire as that...

Dyson DC04 Power cable and switch removal

    Polymer Grout on tiles

I have laid and grouted ceramic floor tiles using what the makers describe as a polymer grout which I understand has no cement content. Although I wiped the tile surface almost immediately, there is some marking which I can't seem to remove. This marking isn't solid grout, just a polymer haze in...

    Conservatory electrics

Thanks Comms That reference makes it quite clear that a conservatory is not a "special location". It also seems to define as "new circuit" as one which runs back to the consumer unit. Is that how you (anyone else?) sees it? So, in a nutshell and keeping it simple: The conservatory is new...

    Conservatory electrics

I have done some further checking. I still don't think that a conservatory is a "special location" and i think you can carry out certain modifications such as extending existing circuits by adding sockets. However on the Residential Landlords Association website under reference to Part P I...

    Conservatory electrics

    - so why is a conservatory a special location? The only thought I have is that I think building regs regard a conservatory as "external" to the house - does this make it a special location although it is not "freestanding". Referring back to the other part of my question, waht is the best way...

    Conservatory electrics

I am contemplating building a conservatory which is attached to one wall of the house. The contstruction will be dwarf cavity walls with bare brick over a concrete slab. I have been thinking about the power supply and have a couple of questions: On the inside of the "common" wall is a double...
