    bath tap pressures

I have 1/4 turn bath taps but they work fine on my low pressure system. Maybe it's the push fit connectors, some of them are not full-bore, they restrict the flow quite a bit, the 'cuprofit' ones are the only full-bore ones i've seen.

Will i get an airlock ??

Hi, thanks for you reply.. The CWS is around 363 litres/79 gallons, if my calulactions are correct, well the size of it is about 550mm x 550mm x 1200mm, and it sits on a frame directly above the hot water cylinder. Can you point me towards some 22mm bleed valves? Doing a search on screwfix etc...

Will i get an airlock ??

Hi, I'm about to install a Techflow QT45-2 shower pump, and i'm concerned about the possibility of getting an airlock in the pipework run from the pump to the bath/shower mixer taps. It's all installed in the airing cupboard, the pump, CWS and HWC. The feed from the CWS will be direct downward...

Shower Pump, Negative Head advice please!

Thanks Terry, I also just phoned Flowtech and they confirmed that the pump would 'kick start' if i lower my shower head to waist height into 'positive head' territory and also continue running even if i lift the showerhead up into NH territory.. That's great! I've just ordered a QT45-2. Just...

Shower Pump, Negative Head advice please!

Hi Terry, Yes that's what i was thinking, but at the moment when i lift the shower head above my head, the water cuts out completely (as it goes negative...) and so would a pump interprete this as me 'turning off the taps' or would it carry on pumping until i actually turn off the taps/shower ??

Shower Pump, Negative Head advice please!

Hi, I would appreciate any advice on this. I need to install a shower pump for my open vent system, it's all in a flat so I am investigating negative head pumps (CWS and HW cylinder are in the airing cupboard, no loft!!). However, i was wondering if I could still use a 'normal' pump (non...

Replacing bathroom extractor fan - PART P

Hi, I currrently have a 20 year old extractor fan, a big bulky noisy thing called 'Harmony' made by Greenwood Airvac, sitting in Zone 2 above the bath at the taps end... It comes on with the light switch, there is no FCU for it. . So i just got a Wickes Bath/Shower extractor fan 240v. In the...

    Flow rates/Pressure/combi

For example, i'm looking at the specs of the Biasi Riva Compact 28HE (M90E.28S) and it says for DHW: Minimum working pressure: 0.3 Bar Minimum flow rate: 2.5 ltr/min and i get 0.2 Bar, 6 ltr/min, so would this extra 'allowable' 3.5 ltr.min flow that i get above the min...

    Flow rates/Pressure/combi

OK i've tested the water at 7am on Monday morning... I get 1.3 Bar static pressure, which drops to 0.2 bar when i open the kitchen tap, and the flow rate is approx 6 ltr/min. Do you think this is too low for a combi? I know the shower at 6 ltr/min would be quite weak, but at the moment we only...

    Waste Pipe Crud !!

No thats the thing, the odd bit of frying once a week is about all we do. Definately the thick crud in picture 2 is meat + fats from other people living here. Well i've scooped out the big sludge, and now rinsing it through, though it still seems slow even after snaking... I'll just keep on...

    Waste Pipe Crud !!

The really thick blockage in the 2nd picture may well be bacon/meat fats, as that section of pipe is over 20 years old and there has been various people renting the place in that time, so who knows what they shoved down the sink. In the first picture, that is new pipework installed in the last...

    Waste Pipe Crud !!

OK here are some pictures, is it any wonder it was a slow drain? Notice in the first pic, the sediment on the top of the pipe. The second picture is 4m from the sink, it's TOTALLY blocked.

    Waste Pipe Crud !!

Yes it looks a bit like washing powder, although we only use liquid detergents in the washing machine, and the W/machine only joins the waste pipe about 3 meteres after the sink on its way to the stack (i live in a flat BTW, the iron soil pipe is in the middle of the building not an outside...

    Waste Pipe Crud !!

I know what an idiot, I spent 10 quid on drain cleaner and i left it overnight and it's done **** all! Already got the new pipe to replace it... But really i wanted to try the cleaner first because i want to prevent this from happening again, replacing the pipes every 18 months is not the way...

    Waste Pipe Crud !!

Hi, i wonder if anyone here has a solution to this.. My 40mm waste pipe runs about 5m from the kitchen sink to the soil pipe, the fall seems adequate (approx 1 inch in every metre). After about 18 months of a new pipe install i had slow moving drainage (v.slow) so i decided to put in an access...

    Flow rates/Pressure/combi

Hi, Would appreciate some advice, i have a conventional boiler that's over 20 years old now, and am planning to get a combi. I live in a 1 bed flat on the 4th floor, the current system has F/E tank, CWS about 1 metre off the 'ground' and the hot water cylinder that sits underneath that (so...
