The shut off valve is in the pipe that is located outside the property (usually attached to a horrendous white box). You can have the meter in an out house if you have one (we have). But they have to be able to isolate the gas from outside of the property.

B&Q has a fairly decent range... prices are much the same £22-£30 a pack 0f 2.22m squared (for decent laminate.....cheaper stuff is available (that horrible nasty yellow laminate).

a combination of silicone and no more nails, and tape it with strong adhesive tape for a day to harden without getting it wet. worked on a big mirror I put up 8)
