Modifying Roof Trusses for Loft Space

Hi, I have a new house (built 2007) and after checking out the loft for the 1st time I've found it to be a huge space which I naturally want to use as storage. My problem is this, each truss has a cross member spanning the width of the loft inconveniently placed at about 800mm high, so...

Purple egg like things on lawn?

Any keen gardeners able to help me identify this? Over the last week or so clusters of tiny purple/lavender coloured egg like things had appeared on our lawn clinging to the blades of grass - it's been quite wet here for a week or so, so when I get chance to mow I assume they'll be erradicated...

    Ideal Isar 30100

The Isar 30 and the Isar HE are the same boiler, 30 refers to the kW output of the boiler - The Isar was brought in to replace the standard efficiency Response Combi. This is the link to the installation and servicing manual. http://www.idealboilers.com/docs/html/isar_he_manual.html

Painting an already painted new build interior

Hi, I'm due to move into a new build Wimpey house in December and the wife has already earmaked repainting of the interior to white, the interior is finished and painted magnolia throughout but the sales people have said we either wait 2 years before painting or use a breathable paint, how...

    Two Combi-boiler questions.

You need to work out the total heat output of all of the radiators in the house (included the proposed in extension), these can be found on the websites of the the rad manufacturers, then add on any hot water requirements e.g baths/showers and compare this total figure against the Kilowatt...

    Ideal ICOS Boiler

A frost stat is connected to the boiler and detects low temperature, causing the boiler to fire up so it doesn't freeze, if your boiler is in the garage or an unheated area it should have frost protection, if it's in your kitchen/utility it won't.

    FCU in lounge?

There has never been nor is anything nearby that has required an fcu, I believe it is wired onto the ring main and left for future use, for what reason I don't know, is it common practice in new build homes to do this? hopefully when the spark comes to wire in my new electric fire this fcu...

    FCU in lounge?

It is on an external wall but a gable wall of a semi and not garden facing. I can't remember exactly as it was only a cursory look last night but I'm sure the cables were red/red in the same point and black/black together.

    FCU in lounge?

It's at the same height as a low level double socket and tv point about 2 foot away. There is nothing in the vicinity that it could have been used for, we've been in the house since new so I know there has been no wall lights, internal or external. I don't know if it's live or not, the wires in...

    FCU in lounge?

In my lounge I have an FCU on the wall, there is no fuse in it but it has wire coming in and going out of it, does any body have any idea of the purpose of this? I orginally assumed it was a switch for the fire but upon removal of the fire no supply was found. The house was built in 2002.
