thanks. The noise at the boiler sounds a bit like a small engine running. Last night it seemed to be a bit louder than when I psoted about the problem. Will be contacting installer but thought I'd find out first if this noise was to be expected with a new boiler or not.

Thanks. And regardless of the wood, if they are double glazed already and I wanted to re-paint them, will linseed oil or linseed oil based paints ruin the seal on the double glazing? I've been looking at the Holkham paints website, and I'm not clear on whether I can use their paints or linseed...

How do you tell if your windows are oak if they were already in the house when you bought it?

The windows on my 1850s terrace are double glazed, and have been painted at some point with an exterior fencing type paint in a reddish brown colour. Some of the paint has now cracked and some is coming off. I started sanding the frames back on the weekend, but it took forever to sand one side...

Thanks namsag. My mistake, I meant Sentinel x400, not 300. Is it still better to remove the rads and clean them with a hose? Or should we go ahead with putting x400 in through the whole system for a couple of days then flush the system?

Bottom of some of our radiators are cool, and the boiler is kettling (Myson Economy, about 12 years old?). So we will be flushing the system this weekend and putting Sentinel 300 in to clean it out. I understand from searching this site that we should leave the Sentinel in the system for 4...
