    Levelling a garage floor

There's a slight dip in the concrete of about 1/4", 20" long, at the middle under the roller door so the weather can get in. The door's bottom edge is undamaged and has a straight edge and the rubber seal is good.. What product should I look for to render the floor level? ......or do I use...

    Scarifier spindle rotation

I'm curious! I have a BMC Wolf electric Machines brand, very similar to this. It does not work well. The bottom of the spindle rotates forward but in my opinion, the spindle bottom should rotate towards the collector box at the rear so the moss and any lawn clippings are thrown into the...

Is there a reset procedure for a Bosch washing machine?

model no. is WFL2260UK/12 The washer is not working properly on any program. On Spin, it will only pump water out but will not spin the drum. On Rinse, it starts to fill with water and will not stop filling so presumably a fault with programmer. None of the wash programs get the drum spinning...

    85mm roof air vent

The spout on the roof's air vent is 85mm o/d which is 10mm smaller than the i/d of this type of duct bend. Are there adapters available? Seems daft that the the roof vent spout is a reduced size. The house is a 2003/04 build.

    Cable for boiler wireless thermostat

The boiler is a Vaillant combi Turbomax Vuw connected to the mains via an isolator switch fused with a 3A. I'm going to fit a Honeywell wireless T3R. Is it acceptable to use 0.5 3core cable for a cable run of about 2m?

Wiring for a Honeywell dial thermostat

From what I've read, terminal 1 in the Honeywell thermostat should be permanent live and terminal 3 should be switched live. My multimeter says they are the wrong way round. I've looked at the isolator switch wiring for the Vaillant Turbomax Vuw combi boiler. There's a 4 core into the boiler.

Plastering on to patio door lintel.

Sliding doors. The plaster on the top horizontal face has a crack along the entire width, the plaster nearer the doors frame has lost its bond and can be pushed up slightly. I’ve gouged a bit of plaster out and as best I can see, there’s a steel lintel face. I presume the plaster will have to...

    Radiator colder at the bottom

Its a Myson 600mm tall x 900mm wide Type 22 fed by 10mm push fit and has been in service since about 2003/07 when the house was built. I've watched a number of videos on YT about sludge at the bottom and removing/flushing the radiator. Some recommend light hammering with a rubber mallet whilst...

Hairline cracks in sink enamel surface

Its a white bathroom sink so no issue with colour matching. I'm considering rubbing over the surface with fine wet n dry and getting an aerosol spray of enamel paint to cover the hairline cracks. If this is practical, are there any issues I need to consider for the task?

Holes at rear of gas hob

They're drilled into the rim. I'm curious about their purpose, to act as vents perhaps? Can anyone enlighten me please?

    Shower thermostatic valve o rings

I've removed and cleaned out the valve. I noticed that rear gauze filter is able to slide to and fro slightly and touch the rear o ring. I've looked at a similar valve and it has additional o ring that keeps the gauze in place. The shower has been working well but will the additional o ring...

    Mixer shower expertise please!

The temperature control valve seems to be seized and I want to remove it. This is the valve set in the wall. Does the chrome sleeve have to be removed first? This is the on/off control.

    Flaking paint on bathroom ceiling

I moved into a house last year which had been painted through with what I presume to be trade white emulsion. I noticed a bit of paint peeling off the bathroom ceiling above the bath so I scraped and sandpapered the patch then painted the ceiling with Dulux bathroom paint. It started to peel...

    Suspension and steering

I recently discovered that Apec have brought suspension and steering parts to the market. I know the brand is reputable for braking. I've had to replace the n/s track rod end, front n/s and both rear springs and have fitted Apec. All seem to be working well on my Bora TDI. What's the general...

Bath tap set with shower/riser set feed from HW storage tank.

My nephew has purchased a semi-detached and the single bathroom has no shower. The boiler feeds a HW storage tank sited on a 18" high platform on the 1st floor, the same floor as the bathroom. Would a mixer tap with incorporated shower, the shower mounted on a riser rail, installed over the...

Mixer tap with push up waste

I'm curious about how you're meant to stop water seeping down past the push rod and pooling on the floor. I've had mine dismantled and the rod does not have any o rings fitted and certainly no groove to accommodate an o ring.

    Vent duct condensation trap fitting

I have 100mm ceiling fans that duct out through the roof. I intend to fit condensation traps. TS have some in stock but they don't fit the duct collars of the fans which I've measured at 100mm o/d. The TS Condensation Traps have too large an i/d which has me baffled. Can anyone advise how these...

    Bathroom/en-suite venting condensation

Both have ceiling fans that duct up into the attic and out through roof. I noticed water droplets in bathroom fan a couple of days ago and have been up in the attic to investigate. The en-suite ducting run has a u-bend in where it drops from the roof vent and had water pooled in it. The...

    HW issue with Vaillant combi

I drained the CH off and while it was drained, I moved the expansion tank further into the cupboard so the door can fully close. To move the expansion tank, I loosened the lower compression on the expansion tank's pipe in the photo and let the water drain out of the boiler. I got the expansion...
