Update, Gledhill have come round all the units and replaced (according to my mum) a relay 1inch by 3inch black box. They are not stating this was the cause of the fire but its strange that they have replaced this component in every house on the row.

Checked the voltage at the gas valve and it is switching on at 240volts when the heating comes on. But the gas main jets are not coming on.

The symptoms you describe, on my Worcester 350 were caused by the diaphram in the expansion take breaking. To test there is a car tyre valve on the tank if water comes out when you press the valve the diaphram has broken. Regards Chris
