how to remove unused telephone wiring

To be quite honest I'd rip the lot out and start again, it's not that difficult. It looks like the previous owner(s) have added things here and there and bodged a way through a problem leaving a bit of a mess. On the other hand, rip it all out and leave one master socket and use dect phones instead!

Fibre cable from premises to street chamber, anyone?

Everything you want to achieve is easily achievable, Unfortunately it WILL cost you! (None of what I'm about to say is a 'dig' at you so please, do not be offended!) Why is your 1960's copper cable crap, plenty of the BT main cable network is pre 1950's and even pre WW2 lead sheathed and paper...

    BT broadband front filter plate

Both items are basically the same thing and performance will be similar. Both project from the wall by virtually the same amount and both allow onward, filtered connections for your broadband.(connect to terminals A & B) For telephone extensions only connect to terminals 2,3 and 5. (your...

    Extension Phone Socket Wiring

That is the new cable used by Openreach (they call it cable equipment 2502) It is exactly the same as cw1308 and is solid not stranded conductors. This colour code that BT stopped using late 70's, is now used again but only on the 2 pair cable.

    Telephone extension

No problem at all, you are connecting to the master socket not 'direct' to the incoming line. Nothing wrong with 'star' wiring. How else could you connect an extension, it has (should) come from the master socket.

    New Build BT Extensions

It might not be the best option but you do not have any options.... Connect a new wire from each choc' bloc to terminals,2,3 and 5. Ie A wire from the 'blues' to terminal 2 A wire from the 'oranges' to terminal 3 A wire from the 'white/blues' to terminal 5 You will never...

    tel cables and CAT6

Typical Openreach engineer, :D They dont fit the plugs themselves  The cat5 cable they use is 2 pair and not the normal 4 pair. It would make no difference fitting the plugs to either cable as it is practically the same cable from the same manufacturer, just 1 cable has tighter twists...

    tel cables and CAT6

Then please tell me why BT supply cat5 cable for their infinity broadband and not cw1308?

    tel cables and CAT6

I am sorry, but that is absolute bull5h1t. What about the differing types/ages of the BT network. 0.32,0.4,0.5,0.7,0.9 and even 1.17mm cable, either copper or aluminium. Using cat5 or cat6 cable will not make your broadband slower or affect the service in any way whatsoever. BT/Openreach...

    Help with wiring BT mastersocket

Then can we assume this is a typo then (about the wire size) ? If it is new Cable it does not matter weather it's drop wire of any number. Or down lead they all use 1.5mm copper with the orange white as the first pair which in a normal residential install the dial tone will be on the orange...

    Help with wiring BT mastersocket

Pushing the wire in with a knife is just stupid! If it has made the connection correctly then you are lucky, whether it will remain connected is another thing. Have you tried plugging the micro filter in before your phone?
