110volt transformers with centre tap 55volts???? confused?

Thanks to all for the replies. I can see that the centre tapped 110 VAC is NOT a good design for control, except that it takes the risk of touch potential down to 55 VAC. However, the issues with control circuits as you have both stated above confirmed my inital suspicions. I have seen...

110volt transformers with centre tap 55volts???? confused?

Hi Stillp, It is related to the subject of centre tapped transformers, as these are widely used in the design of machine control systems (motor controls etc). In a normal 110 VAC circuit with one leg to earth (N) and one 110 VAC (L), the emergency stop is wired to break the live leg, stopping...

110volt transformers with centre tap 55volts???? confused?

Thank Mursal, But, as we have live 55 V AC on both sides of the control circuit, do we need a 2 pole NC emergency stop. Opening one side of the control circuit should stop the machine, but would leave the other side of the control circuit still at 55 V to earth. Regards

110volt transformers with centre tap 55volts???? confused?

Hi I was following the trail about centre tapped transformers. In the comments about all switches etc being double pole, which I understand, does this apply to an emergency stop, which is there to bring a machine to halt in the event of a dangerous situation arising? Thanks

    Kettling Baxi boiler

Hi, No it is not wired to the PL, that is left unconnected. With the Grundfos pump plan, the pumps wire into the wiring centre. The boiler connection is simply S/L, N and Earth. The Grundfos wiring centre has the option to connect with the P/L on the boiler, which would then allow the HW...

    Kettling Baxi boiler

Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated. Getting a permanent live is no problem, except the boiler does not have a terminal for this. The room stat and the timer effectively cut power to the boiler, hence the pump live switch has nothing to drive the pump with. prpbaly easiest to by a...

    Kettling Baxi boiler

Hello boiler experts. We recently extended out heating system, and have adjusted our Baxi 100/2 HE Plus boiler to cope with the added heat load. This has been done in accordance with the manbufacturers guidance, simply by removing the red jumper on the pcb. However, when the thermostat or timer...

    adding a radiator

A ha! Is this likely to be an expensive item? I used the canister type before, and they cost the earth. I guess it is a cost balance between the freezer and the fernox

bedding stone shower tray on polyurethane foam

Hi, Thanks for the honest opinion. In the position ours is, with the weight and size of the tray and only being able to get to the front edge, do you have any tips on how to place the mortar and fit the tray? The only way to get into place is to slide it on the floor, hence the mortar will be...

bedding stone shower tray on polyurethane foam

Hi, I'm fitting a stone resin tray into a niche in an ensuite bathroom. The manufacturer says that it must be bedded on weak mortar, which is fine, except in the position our tray will be, it is impossible. However, as the tray is over the garage, I can inject PU foam unde it, by drilling...
