1 Gang, 2 Way switch - But only one light, one switch

Hello,

I bought a 1 Gang, 2 Way switch by mistake the other day and can't return it as I've opened it now.

I need some help getting it wired properly.

The wires i have in the wall are Earth, Red and Black.


The switch I have bought (1 Gang, 2 Way) has holes for L, L1, L2. There is also a fixing bit on the ride to the left that is attached to the screwhole from behind I think is for Earth.


How can I wire this up properly? At the moment, I had a guess and thought I'd put the Red cable into the L fixing, and the Black into the L1 fixing and the Earth into that one attached to the screwhole.



Any help would be appreciated.

If the switch works "upside down" then you can either turn it round or move the black to L2.

Good Guess, the light will also work with black core in L2 but as long as red is in L, either connection L1 or L2 for black will work
