1 switch to switch to lights

hi everyone
me again sorry but we have removed a sort of pantry from our home now our kitchen is rather large. we have one switch to the 1st light but want to add an extra light to the same room so the 1 switch switches both lights off,the hubby says we run a cable from 1st light for power but does not know how to make it switch on and off the same time as 1st light, do we need to add another cable from switch to 2nd light, any help would be great thanks
