Im wanting to restore/put in place some 12 inch skirts in my new house. Would it be possible to route the decrotive detail into some MDF? i know it seems a little bit of a hassel, but the pre moulded 12inch skirt is really expensive, i have access to machines in a school if this would help.

please let me know how i could go about this

I would have thought you could do it on mdf, but you can certainly do it on softwood.

yes you can router skirting but you will need a large router table large variable speed router and a £60 ish cutter so £500 should cover it including 4 sheets if 8x4" mdf

now the downside

you need good dust extraction to go with it and any wall over 8ft will have a joint along its length

of course if they have a spindle moulder at school all you will need is the knives[blades] ;)
