Hi,
Sorry for the long post..
Recently moved into a 70's build, insulation is awful. The good people at British Gas topping up existing insulation to the 270mm (I think) regulation depth FOC with the govt backed scheme.
My joists are 35mm x 90mm being ~450mm apart (centres)
I have an area of 6.5m x 3.5m to lay boards on.
In the past I've used the 18mm T&G chipboard from the local DIY store - I remember them being very heavy. Not really keen on laying these again purely because of the weight of them and area I have to board over.
I've got to fit loft legs / struts so I can lay boarding over the insulation without compressing the lagging down.
Looking for a lightweight [compared to 18mm chip], strong, cost-effective boarding
Loft will be used for general storage.

Questions
- Will 12mm ply do the job? (Specifially, this Wickes: Product Code: 164537)
- If not, will 18mm ply do the job (This: wickes product code: 110036)
- Intent on cutting it down to 2400 x 400 (i.e 3 strips out of a pannel) - with the loft legs spaced 40cm apart.
- Would this be sufficient spacing of the legs?

--------
Weight comparison
12mm Ply 18.754 KG (for 2440*1220) = 6.3KG per m2
18mm Ply 30.54 KG (for 2440*1220) = 10.25KG per m2
18mm Chip (pack of 3) 15.179KG for ((1220*320)*3) = 13.2KG per m2
