1999 Punto radio removal

does everyone know how to get a radio out of a punto central console.
i cant get at it. There is two screws in sight when u pull the ash tray down , are these what u need to get out first?
Is there a document on the internet some where?

A 1999 punto - is this the one right at the top, with the curved fascia on the stereo? Or the one below the heater controls, sort of sunk in?

Actually, regardless, they looks the same, get 4 long thin implements and jam them into the 4 holes in the 4 corners of the fascia. About 3-4 inches deep are latches that are released by such an implement. You can buy these tools but i used pen nibs. The stereo will then pull out. If it doesnt come easily, you've missed a latch.

the stereo is at the bottom below the heater controls.

Is the pen nibs put in at the back or the front or when u open the ash tray door , looking into the ash tray opening and looking up u can see the bottom of the stereo. when is it approached from.

i think these are what steve is referring to,they fit into 4 holes that are around the outside stereo facia and lock into position to enable the unit to be pulled put

if you can get the forks in the radio and it wont pull forward theres a black plastic bung at the back of the radio you can get your hand up the back of the console and unscrew it it is very tight once thats out you can pull the radio forward.
